LCD below 42" it has a better refresh rate than a plasma at this size or under.
over 42" has to be a plasma, LCD'S tend to have refresh rate problems over this size, basically you see lines scrolling down the screen.
the only issue with LCD as someone has pointed out is that you have to be staring directly or just off to one side or the other or you just see blackness..

plasma is better, coz the picture is clear. in lcd, if you sit at one angle, you will see the screen go dark in glare, you have to sit straight in front of the tv. but if you have a plasma, you can sit in any angle and can still see the picture as bright and as clear when you are in front of it. that is the difference. go for plasma.

Another consideration: LCDs have very breakable PLASTIC screens. Plasmas have glass screens.
