What is an unforgivable sin? I did something bad while knowing that I would be forgiven at the end even if I committed the sin. I heard blaspheming the holy spirit is an unforgivable sin. Is this an unforgivable sin? What can I do to be forgiven? Help me please!!

That's when you slander or offend God the Holy Spook or Ghost...!!! Especially around Halloween. It can get very P-ssed Off at you! So the idea that Jesus can forgive all your sins is OK as far as he is concerned, but each person of the Holy Trinity has its own list of "sins" that are unforgivable. So don't let the preachers fool you.

If you are thinking that way, t hen more than likely you have not committed an unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit. You still have a chance to genuinely repent and do the right thing before Jesus surprises you as a thief in the night. Only God knows your heart. If the holy Spirit has never been in you, how can you sin against it? Examples of people an spirits that sin against the Holy spirit are: Satan, demons, Adam, Eve, and Judas Iscariot.

The blasphemy against the Holy Ghost cannot be committed in this day and age. Essentially, it is accrediting the miraculous workings of the Holy Spirit to be the work of Satan. This sin was committed when Jesus was casting out demons and when the religious leaders of His day saw it and heard it they knowingly and deliberately and publicly accredited the miracle to be the work of Satan and not the Lord. This is where Jesus said that all manner of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven except blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. here Jesus made the truth extraordinarily clear when he said "If I had not done the works among them that no other had done, they had not had sin. Now they have seen both Me and My father and hated both Me and My Father; now they have no cloak for their sin" The sin here was committed as the Pharisees and other religious leaders knew in their hearts that Jesus was the Son of God and they also knew that the miracles he was working was by the power of the Holy Spirit. These men were more concerned about their position before the people than they were about the truth. We don't see the miraculous workings of the Holy Spirit in this day and age as we are also told in the bible that there would come a time that they would cease. In the days of Christ and the apostles it was necessary to confirm their words by their works because they didn't have the complete word of God as we have it today . You need have no fear, You haven't committed it as this is a favorite of satan, He has a lot of Christians worrying that they have committed this sin as he knows that if he can get to worry about it enough, it will render them ineffective in the Lord's service. This sin also could only be committed with deliberate intent and anyone as worried about it as you couldn't commit it anyway.

Yes that has been said. It was said that the holy spirit was the most precious gift that God gave to man. It is our spiritual strength to continue on in good faith and courage without actually needing God to walk us through everything. Blasphemy against the holy spirit is like spitting on yourself, or stabbing yourself for doing a good thing.

Now, don't let that beat you up too much. The fact you seem honestly repentant about the transgression says a lot. Sins of ignorance are always forgiven of us.

Keep in mind this old prayer, that may not have too much to do with the subject at hand, but is always good for getting yourself out of a negative spirit:

"Grant me the courage to change the things I can, the patience to accept the things I can’t, and the wisdom to know the difference."

It's a positive prayer for wisdom, and should help in allowing you to sit back and consider your actions before blindly walking into them next time.

Commiting deliberate sin while hedging your bets is the same thing as slapping Christ in the face,it is that lukewarm attitude that Jesus complained about, therefore we have to stop doing this and each day make a real effort not to offend God Who is too much offended with the increasing sins of the world.
Your act was unworthy of a believer but not the sin against the Holy Spirit which is never forgiven(Blasphemy).

Saying that they do not believe in God and the Holy Spirit is not blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Jesus said ‘Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin’ (Mark 3:20-30)
So you can say what you like about, or to God and Christ - but if you are confronted by a clear action of the Holy Spirit (as the Pharisees were when Jesus cast out a demon) and you then say that it was the work of evil/Satan - that is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

Anyone who asks this question is not guilty of the unforgiveable sin.

To get to that point one must be so hard-hearted that a person has no remorse, no guilt, no concern for God at all. When a person like that gives satan credit for the works of the Holy Spirit, there is a point of no return reached.

You aren't there. Go and put your mind on the love of God. Read I Corinthians 13. Go and read the gospels and concentrate on the goodness of God. It is a mistake to worry about the unforgiveable sin. It is very hard for anyone to get to that point. satan is just pulling your chain, so to speak.

You have already confessed your sin, Jesus immediately forgave you.

satan cannot steal your salvation, so he will try to steal your love relationship with Jesus and your usefulness as a believer. If he can get you to worry about this, satan can keep you as a sick believer and that makes Jesus sad.
You can trust God to keep you safe from the unforgiveable sin. Read Luke 10 about the good shepherd. Jesus is your shepherd. He keeps you safe from evil one.

Have you written into the forum with this question before? If you have, you are proving what I write. Take your mind off yourself and the enemy and put it totally on Jesus, His love for us all, His beautiful story, reading the Bible.....get it?
