YES - GREAT LIVER CLEANSER BEETROOT -

The vegetable that I most strongly recommend for general health improvement and especially for those with cancer is beetroot. The purple pigment has been shown to increase and normalise cell respiration - the oxygen-based energy production within cells. Thus beetroot is one of the key foods in preventing as well as curing cancer. It is equally important in the treatment of other degenerative diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome that are all characterised by reduced cell respiration. .The active ingredient in beetroot is called betacyanin with two carbonyl groups (C=0-). What happens when cellular energy is produced through the oxidation of nutrients is that electrons and hydrogen ions are transferred onto the inhaled oxygen to produce water and energy. In cancer cells and with chronic fatigue the respiratory enzymes that accomplish this transfer have been diminished or destroyed. The colour pigment in beetroot (and other purple food) strongly binds electrons and hydrogen and with this can reactivate the production of cellular oxidative energy. Seeger and others (1990) have shown that the respiration of cancer cells can be completely normalised by a combination of beetroot, raw fermented food and vitamin C. The multiplication of cancer cells would thus stop, and tumours become non-virulent.

Clinical tests using beetroot with cancer patients revealed that often tumours regressed and disappeared. Therefore use plenty of beetroot grated in salads, juiced and cooked; also the residue from juicing may be cooked. Occasionally a small root may leave an acrid aftertaste. Taste suspect roots before making salads or juice; cooking them is fine, and beet tops may be cooked also. Tinned beetroot has lost most of its pigments and is of little value.Beetroot may be available only seasonally. You may store a larger quantity in moist sand. Keep the tops exposed in a cool, shaded place with just enough moisture to prevent drying out. After a good root system has developed you may also let them continue to grow in a sandy and well drained soil, neither too wet nor too dry to avoid rotting or mould development, check frequently. Given the causes of what is referred to as liver cancer, then there is no evidence to suggest beetroot juice will prevent or help after diagnosis.

There are two main kinds of "liver cancer", primary and secondary. Primary liver cancer is either HCC, caused normally by HBV or HCV virus, Haemachromatosis, Alcohol, or any other cause of cirrhosis. Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma's occur in the bile ducts inside the liver, and the cause of which, asside from PSC is not well known. THere has been no study however to see if Beetroot juice may benefit in these tumours.

The other main kind of "liver cancer" is that which has spread from another organ, most commonly the bowel, but also many other organs. Nothing such as beetroot juice will prevent these being able to spread.

To paraphrase the comments of Panda, there is no evidence to suggest it improves, but likewise no evidence to suggest it does harm. So feel free to drink it.

As long as you understand that no documented evidence exists proving that beetroot juice or any other food will cure or stop the progression of the disease than by all means drink it. You should always discuss any dietary change with the doctor first though as some of these juices, herbals, supplements can intefere with chemotherapy treatments. Keep in mind too that a malignant tumor is made up of the same cells as the body . . so the body treats cancer as if it was a normal part of itself . . it has its own blood supply and the body feeds it to keep it healthy just like the heart, the lung, the skin, the bones . . you need to keep in mind that if beetroot juice is good for the body . .it may just help the cancer grow too. Be very careful and make sure this is discussed thoroughly with the doctor.

Beetroot has been shown to "generally improve" the health of cancer patients. But not as a cure, it has great benefits to aid in the prevention of cancer along with other fruits and vegetables, which goes hand in hand with good nutrition.
Early detection and screening for cancer is still the best way to prevent, and possibly cure it. But don't rely on those who are not professionals to mete out advice. Seek a trained physician or herbalist who can give you the best information.

A good diet is always to be recommended, and beetroot like all veg is good for you and so is its juice.

But it will neither prevent nor cure any type of cancer.

EDIT*** copy & paste - could you please give links or references for the clinical trials you describe.

Tommyah: beetroot does not contain B17 as there is no such vitamin. The term was invented to give respectability and credibility to laetrile, a brand name for apricot kernels. There is not a shred of proof that laetrile helps to treat cancer in any way; in fact it is dangerous as it contains cyanide

There is no certain fact but it is probable as you said
BUT BE CAREFUL;

Choose firm and smooth beets. Avoid beets that are either soft or shriveled. Some prefer beets that are small, some prefer medium size and some prefer large size. The size you choose is a personal preference.

Beets are probably one of the most powerful vegetables available. Beets are known for causing both stools and urine to turn red and if this happens, don't be surprised.

Never drink beet juice by itself. Beet juice should always be mixed with other vegetables and/or apple juice. Pure beet juice (from the bulb or greens) can temporarily paralyze your vocal chords, make you break out in hives, increase your heart rate, cause chills or a fever.

Beets are best used in small amounts. I never use more than 1 to 2 ounces of beet juice
Both the roots and greens are powerful cleansers of the body. Beets are said to really cleanse the blood and kidneys and this is why it is suggested you use beets moderately

CONCLUSİON

Beets have a very nice taste and I really enjoy both the color of beet juice and the flavor. But do make sure you realize that beets are a tremendously powerful vegetable.

Consider mixing beets with apples, cucumber, carrots, etc.

Hi Sweetie,
Beet root juice is an excellent, but very potent, toxin cleanser. It will help remove a variety of toxins from most of the organs. Toxin buildup can definately cause or worsen cancer and its symptoms. There is a commune in Vermont(that has a healer who has done extensive research on cancers. People often go there to her to be treated. It is not reccomended to drink large amounts of beet juice straight up. More than 3 or 4 ounces straight can cause fainting. A good elixer is to juice 3 ounces of beet juice together with 2 ounces of celery (known to have the highest naturally occuring source of vitamin K) and add the juice of 1 pear for sweetness. Drink this twice a day for 2 weeks for a natural detox. Love and luck--MissDelanne
