Thinking about getting a new console. ANd originally had my heart set out on the ps3 being a bit of a playstation fangirl...But. apparently its well, crap. So I don't know, people who have an xbox360 are like 'get an xbox - ps3 suckass!' and ps3 people are like 'get a ps3! xbox360 is laaaame' so yeah.

Which one dyou think I should get, and which games to go along with it. (Another thing Ive heard about the ps3 that there are hardly any decent games) ?

But If all else fails, I'll probably end up going for the Wii. XD

Thanks :)

This is my cut and paste answer. The reason for that is because a tech info is a tech info, you can't beat it.

PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.

Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:

A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.

PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $

Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. To estimate its power (roughly) - take 6800 Ultra nvidia graphics card, multiply it by 2 - get a result, still PS3 stronger, because 6800 Ultra runs on 400 Mhz and RSX runs on 550 Mhz.

PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.

Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".

Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.

In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......

PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.

There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.

The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).

On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.

PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.

Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. Soon there is going to be cheaper 40GB version of PS3.

Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.

PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 controller is getting vibrocontroller soon (Dualshock 3).

On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.

New 40GB is coming with a lower prive between around 400$ and 400 euros (depends on the region).

I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.

PS3. You get Blu-Ray and unfastened internet so if the 360 on my own is greater decrease priced you're saving money someplace else reason a HD-DVD tension for the 360 is like £one hundred twenty. PS3 is greater effective and is deliberate to final 10 years. of direction there is not any longer plenty graphical distinction between the 360 and PS3 ideal now however the PS3 hasn't even been out a three hundred and sixty 5 days and builders are nevertheless getting used to it. There are some great video games for the PS3, with greater type than the shooters on Xbox such Heavenly Sword and Ninja gaiden Sigma besides as MGS4, Silent Hill 5, Uncharted and extremely final delusion XIII that are popping out. additionally there is not any pink ring of loss of life. Sorry I went on, yet i'm bored with Xbox fanboys answering those questions with out giving real reasons.

get a ps3 because.....

- ps3 has a built-in blu-ray player

- ps3 has much more and better exclusives, most of them cant go to xbox 360 because it cant handle that many data(DVD- 8.5gb, blu-ray 50gb)

- online is free for ps3 not like 360

- ps3 will have over 300 games released by this spring

- when developers get used to the system, the graphics will be WAY better than 360. should take them a year to get used to it

- playstation home is coming out this spring, its a virtual community where you can hang out with friends and customize your own apartment which xbox doesnt have(FREE)

- ps3 is a true HD console. xbox 360 upscale games to 1080p and ps3 DISPLAY games up to 1080p

- built in Wi-Fi

- xbox 360: 33% hardware failure
ps3: .2% hardware failure(see the decimal? less than 1%!)

- rumble returns in spring 2008

- you can upgrade your harddrive without voiding warranties with any 2.5 HDD, which xbox cant because you have to buy a xbox HDD
(they actually have the step by step on how to upgrade it on playstation.com)

those are the ones that i know right off my mind but there are much more reason than this

Prices as of today:
ps3- 80gb: $599
60gb: $499
xbox 360(premium)- $399 (if you want the accessories that ps3 comes with, that would add up to over 700 dollars)

Xbox 360 and Elite has a 33% hardware failure rate and that number is getting bigger by the day...Ps3 has less than .1% so not sure where you are getting your info about it being crap....

You can play over 2400 games on the ps3 -300 ps3 games that will be out in the next 6 months plus the 78 already out, and you can play almost all past and new ps2 titles which the ps3 upscales to hd.
PS3 is $499 and the Xbox 360 Elite is $479. $20 dollar difference...

PS3 games produced are on Hd 50gig blueray (more space for better graphics without sacrificing game levels and game size..) GTA4 developers even stated that the game will have better graphics and gaming on the ps3 version and are having issues with the 360 version because of 8gig dvd game format... They may have to make the 360 version on multiple disc so if you like getting out of your chair alot while playing, .....

360-elite games produced on dual layered 8gig dvds
game developers are finding the 360 format to limiting and finding that they have to sacrifice game graphics or gaming levels and challenges...

Ps3 for the extra $20 you get a full HD entertainment system that also surfs the internet. You can goto any website and watch or download videos like YouTube...You can access your email and print it etcc...

Ps3 Blueray hd movie player that also upscales regular dvds movies to HD...It also upscales ps2 games to hd..

Ps3 comes with rechargeable controllers...

Ps3 comes with free online play and Wifi

All of the above the 360-elite can't do.
360 and elite -For hd movies you have to buy the hddvd player for $200. For

360 elite for quick charge kit you have to buy it for $20.

To play online the 360 charges $50 a year

360 elite no interent browser

Ps3 hdmi 1.3 (supports deep color)
360-elite- 1.2 doesn't support deepcolor 1.3

Ps3 Nvidia RSX GPU Graphics at least two years ahead of it's time. And programmers aren't even close to using it's full potential yet.
360-elite is hardware locked into outdated DX9 graphics-Game programmers are developoing for DX10 (full 4d and 3d motion realism)

THe ps3 8cell broadband processors. CPU-Designed specifically for highspeed calculations (Games Capable of more AI charactors )

Xbox 360 -Elite-- The New 65NM CHip....Isn't any different then what they used in the 360 core except it cost less to produce....

Ps3 you can buy any external usb harddrive and hook it up loaded with music videos , etc...You can buy any brand 2.5 ata harddrive and upgrade the harddrive size for ps3...

THe elite and 360 requires Microsoft harddrives only- for a 20gig it's $100, for the 120 it's $189

360 -elite for wifi you have to pay an additional $100 and online gaming is $50 a year...And for that $50 a year to play online you also get stuck with third party in menu advertising...

To use 60% of what the 360 and elite can do you have to buy the addons and you'll spend over $750 before you even insert a game.

THe elite and new 360s hdmi, 65nm, red ring of death--Microsoft has no Idea what the cause is, You can't fix what you can't find. So yes they are all vulnerable.

Get the ps3 you can use it for so much more. We own all three. THe wii, elite and ps3

How can you even ask that question. PS3 is superior to 360 IN EVERY SINGLE WAY! The only reason why 360 users hate PS3 is because they are jealous their console can't even compete with the PS3. As far as games go, yeah its true 360 games are currently better than PS3 buts that only because 360 came out first and developers had more time to get the most of the 360. But look at it this way. The most advanced PS3 game uses only 20% of the PS3's power where as 360's maximum power is already acheived in Gears of War and Halo 3. So think how great and awesome the PS3 games are going to be in the coming years while the 360 IS JUST GOING TO SIT AND SUCK ***!

if your not a true gamer get a wii its a fun boring console im sorry to say. The games are just intent on the controller and dont focus on the gameplay itself. PS3 is a next gen console (as is 360). ps3 has better graphics 1080p (full hd) and can play music dvds photos. The internet and online play is free on ps3. 360 you have to pay. go with a ps3 and you wont be dissappointed.

you know, i'm so tired of people saying there aren't any good games out for the ps3. there are good games out!!!! lately i've been hooked on The Darkness and NBA Live 08.

now ps3 doesn't have as many games out compared to the 360, but the 360 has been on the market for a year longer than the ps3.

You should probably get a wii, because on the PS3 their really isn't good games and if you get a Xbox 360 the graphics is good and everything but the games are pretty hard. The wii is really fun theirs good games and gives you excercise.

I dont have anything against ps3 but i think xbox 360 you will get a lot more out of and at a cheaper option. a ps3 is well publisized for its grafics, but the grafics depend on the type of tv. the xbox 360 has a lot more games and it has more people on the online play system. so xbox is basically the same as the 360 axeppt xbox 360 has more people and is cheaper.

But again its up to you.
