Lesbian & Gay Christian Movement Prayer
God, whose love and compassion extends to all without distinction of sex or sexuality
We offer you our lives and experiences as gay men, bisexuals and lesbian women
Help us to play our special part in your work of redeeming love for all people
Give us strength to carry your love into a world that may reject or ignore us
May we journey with Christ in faith and truth and justice trusting in your eternal love
We remember in prayer
*
The Church - that your concern for love, justice and freedom may be honoured by the community of faith
*
Lesbians and gay men throughout the world, especially those facing hatred, injustice or imprisonment; the lonely, isolated and confused; the poor and hungry; the elderly, the sick and bereaved; that they may know themselves to be acceptable and accepted
*
Those we love, especially our partners, our parents, our families and friends, that our love may be a reflection of your creation
*
Those who seek to hurt us, that their hearts may be changed
*
Ourselves - that we may be ready to respond in love to the needs of our gay brothers and sisters and all your creation
*
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer

the bible clearly states that we are to love God and love our neighbors as ourselves. brothers sisters you are our neighbors .Jesus Christ died and rose for all of our sins . yes we are all guilty some of gluttony some of adultery but we don't seem to protest the fat guy at church who truly has a problem with gluttony. we need not look at each others sins for we are all guilty but love covers a multitude of sin and god loves you and so do i peace.

As a follower of Christ, I have been disappointed with the way the Church (as in the Body of Christ) has handled this issue. I agree that, according to the Bible, homosexuality is immoral. I also agree that these people should not be in leadership in our churches (Read 1&2 Timothy for qualifications of Church leaders), but to completely cast them out saying there is no way they can be saved or have a relationship with the SAVIOR OF SINNERS is completed, absolutely ridiculous. Christ came to forgive ALL sin, not just that which is approved of by the church for forgiveness.
For everyone...Christ came to love an imperfect, immoral, and deceitful bunch of hypocritical liars, cheats, adulterers, and the like. He didn't come for the perfect...what healthy man needs a doctor? He came for the sick, the brokenhearted, and the weary.
He came for me...I fit into every one of those categories.

heretotellyou - Actually, gay people don't want "special rights"... we want equal rights which is a huge difference.... I'm from the UK and until recently a gay couple didn't have the same rights as a straight couple.... now for instance, if one of the people in a gay relationship dies, everything left goes to the partner.... whereas before the partner was completley excluded from the proceedings.... watch "If these walls could talk 2" and you'll see an example.
As for do other groups of people have specific prayers.... yes they do.... do some searches on different prayers for specific people..... you will find many.... frinstance - "http://www.jah-rastafari.com/marcus-words/show-garvey-word.asp?word_title=A%20Black%20Man~s%20Prayer"
As for the original question - God hears ALL prayers from ALL people from ALL walks of life, regardless of the people themselves... God is a God of UNCONDITIONAL and INCOMPREHENDABLE love and will take anyone into His arms that comes to Him with childlike faith....

Being a Christian is following Jesus Christ and studying His Word. We can't pick and choose what we want to follow in the Bible. God said homosexuality is a sin. If you're a Christian you can't just skip over that part.

Ok, well , I don't know alot about church things, but if gays are natural and normal and God made them, why do they need a different name, and special rights? Why don't they just be what they are without telling me they are different? I don't know why they need a special prayer. Do black people need a special prayer? Do children? Do rich people or poor people? If people are people, and God is God, why does someone need a special prayer?

the excellent prayer is an undemanding thank you for the prospect to have this life. to frequently it sounds greater like a choose checklist from somebody who's particular that they be attentive to greater advantageous than God what's of their superb pastime and that they are particular that God desires their suggestion.

God hears your prayer if it is coming from your heart no matter who we are or what we are He created us and so He wants good things for us. It is not what we do that gets us saved but what He does in our lives and it is by his grace that we are saved He will help you to do your part in redeeming love for all people but you have to be obedient to his will and have faith in knowing that he will guide you into it the right and proper way.

, God loves you no matter what, but being gay is not what he wants for you. he gave you women, to love and comfort you. No man can do these things as they where attended for you, woman to God gave man. You say you are a nonbeliever, so to be gay is OK with you. to know God and his purpose for your life is what is important. so i ask if you want true prayer pray for Gods will to happen. God bless

Yes, it does. You make the prayer sound as though only gays need it because they are being persecuted by the churched "homophobes" for "who they are". I hear you saying that those who don't agree are the homophobes and need to repent. Disagreement with you does not equal homophobia. And, there are actually very few people who actually fear gays (i.e., child sex molestation adolescent and adult victims of those who were by a gay male. I know because I counsel a few of them). But many more do treat them like their less than in whatever way, which is "sin". This is not right, and they need to repent, for sure. That you are right about.
Unfortunately, believe it or not, it is really mostly the other way around though when it comes to those who need to repent, especially concerning their ways in communicating their view towards others in the church. Many gays (of course, some don't) will not relent and do badger and attempt to coerce others in the church by whatever means possible, and by prayers like this that attempt to manipulate by an emotional appeal to their disproportionately perceived victimization and by guilt provocation into accepting them in this false identity, when God clearly says do not fall for such manipulative emotional appeals, whether by prayer or not. This is not loving them, He says, but rather enablement. What's worse yet is that many gays refuse to own up to it and rather keep pointing the finger, and disrespectfully calling Christians all kinds of names, like children do in the playground with one another. And, they believe that they are justified in doing so! However, of course, acting the same way towards them is considered bigotry, discrimination (which they would be correct in saying), and now even calling it "violence" (this is so extreme and incorrect) ? So who's really being a bigot, and discriminating against whom? Can you now see it as possibly occuring from both sides?
To offer your life to God, and to the church membership, as a gay-identified man or a lesbian-identified woman is to believe what God has told us to leave behind, our old lives, and live anew in Christ. This goes for straights, bi's, transgendered, and any other aberration (yes, identifying oneself as straight is an aberration, and just as much as gay!) sexually, because one's sex life is now redeemed, belonging to God, as well, and no longer to themselves. As Christians, coming from anyone of these kinds of sexual lifestyles, we are no longer to put on such labels, and identify ourselves and be identified by our selfish lustful desires (a sure sign of repentence and faith), rather by only what is constitutionally a part of us in this world as a child of God. Sexual orientation is not constitutional, according to science (two Bailey and Pillard, monozygote (identical twin) studies, in the 90's), and it is fluid, not static, and the trend is toward heterosexuality, not homosexuality (Laumann, 1994). And, many who claim the name of Christ as their Savior and Lord actually do successfully leave their lifestyle and false identity behind, and go on either living a content and productive life in celibacy, or marry (only after one recognizes that they are sexually attracted to their spouse-to-be, of course), as in what the latest research indicates (Spitzer, 1999 & Jones, Yarhouse, 2007).
