His sons Hophni and Phinehas grossly misconducted themselves, to the great disgust of the people (1Sa 2:27-36).—Easton's Illustrated Dictionary

Theirs names were Hophni and Phinehas and they served as officiating priests, but they are “good-for-nothing men,” only interested in satisfying their bellies and unclean sexual desires. They were not content with the portion of the sacrifice assigned to them by God’s law, and even serve themselves ahead of God by having an attendant demand raw meat from the offerer before making the fat smoke upon the altar. Eli’s greedy, sensual sons used their position at the tent of meeting to carry on vice and theft at the expense of God’s pure worship.

Phineas and Hophni. I'm shaky on the spelling. They were evil prists. God let them be killed in battle. They dishonored God and were unfaithful in their priesthood. They extorted sacrifices, forced women into sex, ate forbidden parts of the animal sacrifices. They totally dishonored God and their father didn't correct them or remove them from the priesthood. Their punishment was death and the destruction of their family's geneology because they had no heirs.

Samuel, the son of Hannah was a faithful priest who served God well.
