What allows us, relative to our own religious values/beliefs, to say that they are the “right” values/beliefs, when there are so many others?
(Note that each religion also thinks theirs are just as “right”)

Has someone possibly achieved some sort of magical theory which allows us to judge between the codes/beliefs of different religions, to say one is “better” than another? or are we simply being stubborn children arguing that "mine is better than yours"?

to each his/her own. I believe it is wrong to push my view on anyone unless by invite.

Nothing allows us, people like to empower themselves.

Well, it takes a certain amount of social pressure or fear to hold anyone to a set of values or beliefs that they *don't* think are right, not that that doesn't happen.

And confidence in "rightness" comes with a degree of fuzziness in most cases: on the level of conviction
(I'm pretty sure...) and also on the precison of the belief.
(... "in God " might be a point of agreement for two people who differ markedly on the nature of the deity.)
The tool kit used to judge between beliefs is something that will have been acquired in a similar manner to our sets of convictions and held "truths".
Family, schooling, social and cultural setting play a massive part, and much of the acquisition is unconscious, not formal or explicit.
( It was obvious to me, in my generation, though never actually taught, that in any fight between the cavalry and the indians (sic) that the cavalry were the good guys. Hmm.)

Reassessing one's methodology for assessing truth risks fallling into a circular argument. "My tool-kit needs mending: I'll just go get my tool-kit..."
But there are at least potentially ways out. Looking at other systems of thought and value *from within their own assumptions* is a start.

Just for the record, Hinduism does not profess to be the "right one". There is a Hindu saying "Paths are many..truth is one". Hinduism respects other religions.

I don't think their is a RIGHT religion/value/belief. It's all based on the person who believes in them. I for one don't believe in organized "religion". I believe in God, Christ, and my faith. Many people would say that what i believe is wrong because i don't have a set religion. I question the bible and many other things. But that's just because it suits me better than religion suits me. It's all dependant on the person.

There isn't a code and no peaceful way of living is any better than another peaceful way of living. But the only reason there is no peace is because of conflicting ideas. people want to control the world instead of living in it

how would you follow the unreasonable dictates of your own religion, if you did not feel it was the only true religion, and all others are nothing but superstition?
no religious man can accept that the religion he follows is as superstitious as all other religions are.

For those who believe the Bible, it does say that the path to everlasting life would be straight and narrow, as opposed to the wide road that will lead to destruction. Someone has to have the right answer, no?

I am all about Christ. I tolerate all views, and love alot of different believing people in my life, but I do not believe this truth to be relative. Gods peace to you :-)

Every religion is right because they are right for evry individual in that relifion. Catholic is right for me because "The Kingdom of God is inside you, is all around you". The jewish religion is right to the Jewish and so on.
