Why does it hurt so much to be in love with someone who does not love you back?

Love is a emotion that is returned thus love grows. You may be in love with the idea of love itself. Simply put you want something so bad that you build it up to be something that isn't there. Thus the gap is a short coming and thats the part that hurts. I have thought i was inlove many times and i personally took it hard when i got hurt/heartbroken and such. I will say this looking back, "For every time i thought i loved and was hurt i discovered what love ISN'T." I actually learned a little bit to alot about myself during all these negative times in my life. I actually was sculpting myself to be less tolerant of those who weren't right for me, (Less likely to date those who weren't at least 98% compatible to me). Emotionally i grew from those hard times and it's another growing pain. You will be better in the end. One true thing that helped me in times of pain was taking time to do things i wanted, Also i was able to become more of a whole person. I stopped looking and was "Through with dating period!" But about a year or more later i found the woman i really wanted! When you get tired of looking for love just stop and look around to the rest of life and let love find you! No one in their right mind would ever stay in a relationship that isn't a hand in glove fit. Take time to understand what you really want. Just try to remain optomistic if you can. I learned how to write poetry/draw better in my spare time, also made tons of friends. Avoid drugs and alcohol. Good luck and may good things like love find you!

Because love should be a give and take, and if you are giving and he is taking and not giving back, well that is pain.

Just like if everyone is exchanging gifts at Christmas and you get passed by, well that is pain too.

It is rejection that hurts us.

You need to walk away from this person, put him tuck away in you memory and go on with your life. I promise you, there will be others to take his place.

I just can't tell you when, but I know the sooner you get over this and start smiling again, you will have a much better chance of getting another real soon.

Because love is a really intense emotion and all emotions expect a response. Anger expects change, fear expects pain or reassurance, happiness expects happiness and love expects love. Intensely, When you love someone you are attaching all sorts of feelings and connotations with that person, and when they don't embrace those things it's like you're throwing yourself at a brick wall.

Ive gone through it and theres no real answer to that question especially sence i ended up with the guy that didnt luv me back maybe itll all work out good like it did for me, i thought itd never happen but ive been with him for over a year so try to stay hopeful.
