Without using religion or mentioning God. If someone is deeply hurt by another man, and that person was nice to that person and they ask you why they did it, what do you say? Are they suppose to ignore these questions?

If a family loved one is murdered by another man and the details of the case are unspeakable. Is just saying that they had a chemical imbalance suitable for them. Should be satisified if the such person is trialed in court and sent to jail. Should they stop questioning why they did this to their loved ones even if said person was put to death by the death penality.

If they can't stop themselves from asking why, even after the person is convicted and/or put to death, is that person weak minded for still pondering about it.

Should you stop feeling pain and hurt from a wrong done onto you, if the person who did you wrong goes to court and the issue is settled in court.

Remember do not use religion or God to answer this.
Thanks.

Jew Girl,
I was thinking of that when I asked this queston. I mean should a holocaust victim not feel upset even if the event happened decades before, and there is so much retribution paid to the victims.

My mom has a friend who's husbands parents were in a concentration camp. They get some sort of fund from the gov. I can suspect that they, have been getting this check for some years. So should they feel satisfied or not think about what happened to them when the money is deposited into their account. At what age should they just "get over it" 50, 60, 85?

Did I say I was uncomfortable? So you are in the predicting of one's state of mind. I wanted people to answer the question without using God or religion. You did it in the first few words, but immediately went on mentioning religion. Surely you can follow simple logical instructions.

The question is quite simple, despite the athiest attempts to display "Contrived Confusion".

So please do give me another doe eyed "I don't know what your talking about".

Let me pick up a rock and bash you in the head with it for no good reason.

Then lets see what you say.

I suspect all your intellectual posing will go right out the window and you will come face to face with the same question asked by all victims since time began.

Why Me?

the evil that lies within the heart of man can not be explained except to say that it has always existed in us, as far back as Cain and Abel. The capacity for unimagined evil, and often it lives side by side with the capacity for an immense amount of good. As for not mentioning God or Religion your are in the Religion and Spirituality forum, doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose for being here?

It's human nature. We have plenty of cultural deviants who are more than willing to commit antisocial behaviour.

Humans are always going to ask "why?" - that's one of the things that makes us human. And just because a case is settled in court, it's not really human nature to forgive and forget - especially for the victims and the victims' families. And I have no argument with that at all.

unfortunately, murder is much easier to achieve physically, than it is to justify morally. one would think that if a god had designed the universe for the habitation of humans, with a perfect morality in mind, the opposite situation would apply. but i suppose that's part of why i'm an atheist, i don't understand these subtleties.

edit: my answer is in the first sentence. if you're uncomfortable with my attempt to explore the consequences, too bad for you.

Not using religion??? Hmmm... that leaves very little left of what could be the most evil - in fact - there is really nothing if you leave out christianity.

I'm a firm believer in holding a grudge.... forgiveness has rules... and somethings are unforgivable.
