Yes, but we don't pay their campaign funds. Those are the people they answer to, those who pay for their elections and re-elections.

Its the rich who own them; that's who they work for.

Sick, isn't it?

Of course, if we were more intelligent as voters, we wouldn't have this problem.

If something of the government workers ought to stay with a pay scale and a cost of living adjustment, why can't the politicians? it is not comparable to they are hurting for money. i do no longer care what their earnings is. that is approximately greed. And in accordance with a prior submit... regardless of if we paid all of them one billion money a year, they could nonetheless take bribes from particular pursuits contained in one among those marketing campaign donations. The gadget is broken. incredibly, that's a micro-dollar interior the super photograph of the government funds. besides the shown fact that it nonetheless pisses me off. they ought to ought to sell any payscale advance to the persons and placed it as much as a in many circumstances used vote. while they have a severe approval score, that must be an outstanding time to ask for a advance. (in simple terms like interior the actual international.)

If an elected politician announced after his/her election that he/she is not going to run again, you may be correct in stating that "they don't have to answer to" anyone. But you are forgetting that the politicians normally try to get reelected. To get reelected, they have to get campaign contributions often amounting to millions of dollars, and to do so they lose their freedom for "doing the right thing for the people". If they started doing the right thing such as providing universal healthcare (as just one example out of hundreds), they would cease getting contributions from most of the business interests for the 20% of the economy dependent on the current system of healthcare.
The cure seems to be to have taxpayers (i.e., the government) pay for the costs of campaigning for all candidates; to put ceilings on the amount; to pay in stages (such as a certain amount to get on the ballot, or for conducting a primary battle), and to shorten the election period; and to prohibit ways of by-passing the restrictions.

Democracy means the often 49.9999% of the population will often not agree with what the elected politician does in office in a two party system. In a 3 or more party system it could be an even higher percentage.

The people of the United States have fallen into a state of complacency and are unwilling to spend their time or energy to speak out for what they believe in. With the advent of the internet, it should be easier than ever to organize a nationwide coalition to sway congressman to make decisions for the people rather than self interests.

Generally speaking I believe our elected officials trying to do the right thing. If you don't believe so then why don't you run for office - be part of the solution not part of the problem!!!

Good Luck!!!

Different people have different opinions.
You can't expect to always get exactly what you want by paying taxes.

I think you're trying to debate here.
No offense, but you need to calm down.

If you want something done, contact your elected official by phone, e-mail, etc.
Let your voice be heard.

That's why we have elections. You need to study and vote for and even campaign for the person you judge most likely to do what you think needs to be done.
