oh no! my cat was 3 and we just had to put him down today because of kidney failure. there was nothing they could do about it when my mother took him to the after hours animal hospital. before we took him, he could barely open his eyes, and he couldn't meow, and he had a hard time urinating, but when he did he did it all over himself and started smelling of urine. he couldn't walk or anything. if this sounds like your cat, you really need to take him to an animal hospital and they will do blood tests and stuff like that, and if there is anything they can do for him they will, if not, you will need to put him to sleep, even if you have the option of taking it home. if you take it home, it will die in pain. we had to put my cat to sleep today cause there was nothing they could do about it, and if it comes to that, i am truley sorry, because i know how that feels. i really miss my kitty, and i hope you don't have to put your cat down. i hope this helped, and if your cat has any of those symptoms, take him to the vet or animal hospital ASAP!!!

Please take your cat to the vet or have a vet come to you now or early tomorrow. Probably from your cat's body language you can tell it is suffering. (Sleepy, sad-looking, no spirit, labored breathing, getting thin, not eating, not drinking, not able to get up and use litterbox, as you said smells of urine.) If your cat is just sleeping and doesn't seem to be making grunting sounds indicating pain, maybe your kitty will be lucky enough to pass in its sleep. But if there's any hint that your cat is suffering: Your vet needs to help you decide if your cat should be put to sleep to end its suffering, or if sub-cutaneous fluids should be used to make your cat more comfortable.

Over the years we've had 4 elderly cats that had kidney failure. It was always a hard decision, to have each cat put to sleep but the lesson learned was: Once we saw our animals were beginning to suffer, the quicker they were put down and at peace the better for them. So sorry you have to go through this. But please do not wait out the weekend. Get your cat vetrinary care ASAP.

if it has kidney failure and is smelling like urine (and you know that it hasn't been urinating on itself) then it is likely uremic frost- there may even be crystals starting to form in its fur. this is not a good sign. really take your cat to the vet and see if they have any way to help him. if the failure is too far advanced and the kit is suffering, then you may want to consider having it euthanized. It is the toughest thing a pet owner can do but it is also the most caring thing as well. Consider your kits quality of life. you would not want him/her to suffer.

No, it's not true. My cat passed away last year of kidney failure and she smelled the same as usual. They can have trouble passing urine but they don't smell.

there's a product spoke of as Nature's Miracle and it relatively is present day in puppy shops. it relatively is authentic use is to get the urine scent out of your place from animal blunders or if a cat sprays on your place even though it works on all varieties of diverse fabric. good success.

I don't know about that but when they are near the end it is extremely painfull as their body start to feel the effects of the toxins it can't get rid of. I think you need to consider taking your cat to the vet and letting it go peacefully. Not easy I know I am going through the same dilema one of my cats has cancer I had him in his basket to go to the vets for the last time and I couldn't do it. It is a hard thing to do.

No. Say a prayer and give a vet a good tip so he will do his best.
