Okay, my dog is old and his teeth are bothering him more and more. Vet says he has trouble with the crunchy dog food, so I need something soft.
He does really well with the Purina Moist and Meaty and loves all canned foods, but he is big (Rot) and I am trying to find something that comes in a big (at least 18lb) bag like his crunchy stuff.
Is there any softer dry dog food that may be easier on him?

Any suggestions are welcome.

I have already consulted the vet and they told me to leave him alone, because the dog doesn't need any added stress that could trigger a heart attack an kill him.
Don't jump to conclusions about something you have no clue about the details.

Why not just soak his dry food in warm water until it is soft? Cheaper, smells better, easier to haul, and less mess. You could also try smaller size kibble, like Nutro Natural Choice Small Bites.

You need to change the way you are feeding your dog. Put the food down for 15 minutes and pick up what is not eaten. Do this twice a day. Do not allow him to be picky. Most dogs find wet food more palatable, so he may just be holding out because he knows you will water down the food. You say his teeth are caked with food. Do you brush his teeth or have regular dental cleanings done? If not, your dog may actually have periodontal disease and eating the hard food may be painful for him. If he does not start eating the dry food in its dry form a vet check would be in order.

Try Bil-Jac frozen dog food. Also, like one person suggested, just moisten his dry food with warm water.have you considered getting the bad teeth pulled and the rest cleaned? This would really help.My neighbor's 15 year old poodle just had a bunch of abscessed teeth pulled, and now he's eating everything, even though he only has 5 teeth left in his mouth!!

Don't feed him garbage like that, he'll become fat and he'll develop all sorts of chronic health issues.. Buy him a good quality kibble that comes in smaller chunks.. Get the vet to fix up his teeth so that he doesn't have problems with them. Don't just leave his teeth to rot out of his head.
