I am thinking about doing this because we are in a bind. Do you have to wait til December to be able to do this, or could we do it now with our last paycheck stub? I know the fees are steep, but we really need the money.

The bank that offered these loans (HSBC) has discontinued them. As of now, there will not be any advance loans at Block or Jackson-Hewitt. You will have to wait until January when you get your W2s.

If you are looking to get some fast money over the short term, increase your W-4 exemptions. It isn't as much as a loan, but you will get extra money for the rest of the year.

Be sure to fill out a new W-4 before February 2008 so you have enough taxes withheld for 2008.
