what do you think gives you somekind of idea the type of person they are?

This question is deeper than it seems. Yes, I believe that I can tell about a person just by spending a little time with them and observing them, starting with the eyes. Body language is not complicated if you know how to read it. There have been times when meeting someone for the first time, I have gotten the feeling that I just have to get away from this person - I saw it in there eyes first, felt it in their body language next, and if sticking around is the choice, I heard it in their words, last. Then I'm gone. Call it intuition, it's all apart of me. Most times, I don't get past the language of the body. That tells all.
Now, if it's friendly-type language, as my dad would say, then sticking around might be fun. Thankfully, there is more of this. I love talking to people. I always make eye contact with people, and 99% of the time, get good feedback. My brother and I are the same way. We got it from our dad, I believe. And the love of being around people, no matter how many.
Decisions are made on the strength of perceptions made instantly by us, looking first, with the EYES.

Two phrases come to mind, "eyes are the window to the soul" and "soul gaze". There is nothing else in life which equates to either of these two phrases except simply looking into the eyes of another. I do not mean a glance, but really LOOKING into another's eyes. I am 59, and yes, I've had my experience with a number of women, but I have to say, it was looking into their eyes which determined if there was a possibility of a connection or not. The same applies for me and other men I have known. It was looking into their eyes which determined whether they became a friend or merely an acquaintance. If both of you are comfortable gazing into each other's eyes, it says something about the goodness of each of you to the other, which scores big points. There is NO scientific basis for this, but more a intuitive thing at work here, which mostly works to your (and their) advantage in promoting a good relationship in life. There are some people in my life, I could gaze into for... well, forever, if that was possible, and I would be very happy to do so..

For me, the most important thing for me to learn about someone from the very first impression is the Eyes, you can learn a lot by watching their eyes, second would be body language, the way they walk, stand, hand movements, gestures, and the like!!

The eyes are a good way to tell how somebody's really feeling. Not what kind of person they are...
If you want to know that, check out their friends (if you'd rather not talk to Them). They're friends with those people because of common interests or intrigues...
A person's physical features will NEVER tell you anything about who they are on the inside.

Sure "eyes" do. There is not generalized rule to analyze the eyes' behavior in such cases, but eyes are very sensitive to eye-contacts. So while talking to other person, keep your eyes on her eyes, and keep talking. Soon you will discover that language of her eyes.

I don't think so anymore, so many people say "If a person is lying they won't look you in theye" but all of the liars have learned this, and they stare directly at you when they spew their B.S, so, no, I think you have to get to know a person, don't just go by their stare.

no, and i hate when people say "you can tell alot about a person by" i learned that some people just appear shy or mean or distant but are not at all...get to know them for a month then make your descision

The last time i looked in a mans eyes and thought it was love.....he was really a woman beater. I can't tell now!

Yeah .. that has occurred to me in the previous. regularly while i improve into in severe college. Ahhh candy thoughts. you're suited that's a superb feeling. Its candy to take heed to somebody say that to you. =)

You can always tell if a person is dumb by the look in their eyes, particularily women.
I have VERY creepy, sinister green eyes and I'm quite aware of it. =)
