Hypothyroidism and its link to gonadal hormones is not clearly understood. To the extent understood , hypothyroidism slows down metabolic processes of the entire body including pituitary and gonadal hormones causing sharp drop of estrogen and progesterone levels. Endometrium becomes dysfunctional, resulting in increased expulsion of it .Coupled wth this anemia and limited intake of calcium and fat soluble vitamins increases bleeding time and uterine flow. The net result is shortened menstrual cycle and increased flow.
The reverse happens in hyperthyroidism

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tinyurl.im/aH6t1 Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour. Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland. Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.
