Mrs. Romer,
A heart shaped face is smallest at the chin, so that's where you want the greatest width in your hair. The goal is to create an oval shaped face, using the outline of both head and hair. You don't want to widen the area around your forehead. Most hair styles will widen that area at least a little, so you don't want to accentuate it by heavy backcombing.
If you have a high forehead, using bangs will look good on you. If not, they won't be necessary, but may look great, too.
From the middle of your ears to the bottom of your chin is where the truly heart shaped face will benefit from width. You can do that just a little, by turning the ends of your hair under. You can accentuate it more by flipping the ends of your hair up.
If you want soft waves or curls, just lift your hair out a bit, spray a holding spray from underneath it as it falls. That will hold your hair out a bit, in just the right place.
Whatever style you choose, you will want to practice brushing it, combing it, and trying different things with it on the weekends, so you can try out new things with it during the week. Have your hairdresser show you some tricks to try at home. I suggest a cut that is just a bit above your shoulders, so you can get the width in the right place for you. Have fun with your hair, and don't try for perfection -that's way too stressful. Do it, and forget it. Enjoy your life.

Hi - Consider yourself lucky to share the same face shape with the likes of Sophie Dahl, Victoria Beckham and Scarlett Johannson. Do some searches for these celebs on Google and look at their styles. Look to add a little volume at the sides and avoid top-heavy hairstyles as this will only accentuate the proportions of your face shape. Definitely cut it to your shoulders or even a little shorter. With a heart-shaped face you want volume at the sides. You should also have a side part.

Layers, slightly flippped out look great on every head and face shape. And it is classic. It never goes out of style.
