My boyfriend and I have been dating for 9 months. I absolutely adore him and want to take it to the next level, but I want to know others' opinions on their first time. Is 17 too young, even though I truly feel like I'm in love? And will this put a strain or pressure on our relationship?

Wow, a lot of people are saying wait...

I had sex with my bf of 9 months when I was 17 actually and it was my first time. It completely destroyed our relationship because it was so horrible. (the sex was bad...really bad. lol.)

But did I regret it? Not even a little bit. I learned a LOT about my body and got a TON of confidence after that. I wouldn't trade any of that for the world.

So, if you want to take a chance do it. It's always going to be chancy when it's your first time, but don't take the textbook, "No you're too young" crap. Because age is in your experience not in your years. We don't know what kind of relationship or feelings you have for this boy so how can we say whether it'll be good or bad? Either way though, you'll come out learning something about yourself.

You are probably not ready. 17 is too young, you should wait until you are older, trust me, i've been there. so many things could go wrong at 17 when you have sex too. It could put a strain on the relationship.

It sounds to me as though you are not ready due to the fact that you are asking this question of total strangers on the internet.

You'll know when the time is right! I believe that is something that a woman has a strong instinct about. If he's not pressuring this, then go for it when there is no doubt in your mind. If there is any shrd of doubt, then simply wait.

well you know to yourself if you're ready or not... but if u have this confusions and hesitations obviously you're not ready and 17 is too young for that. You have a long long way to go girl dont rush into things...that you will regret at the same at the end coz we must admit that we can never ever tell things in the future. So take it easy...

If I were you I would wait. A lot of people say that they think that their ready, but when it happens they regret it. Then a lot of problems in the relationship start to go on. Wait a while to absolutly make sure hes the one.

You're asking other people's opinion on what you should do, but no one can answer this question for you. You can't say the word "sex", so to me it doesn't seem like you are mature enough to handle the physical and emotional aspects of sex. Wait till you know you're ready without questioning it.

i know how you feel. i felt the same way as you, but sometimes taking it to the 'next level' really can mess up relationships. wait a little while and if you do decide to do it then make sure it doesnt become just a physical relationship.

No, you are not ready. I can tell that just because of this question. You are young, you'll have plenty of time to give your virginity away. I think you should wait longer, cuz once you give it up you can never get it back and it will be tragic if it's something you end up regretting.
