Tammy C gave excellent advice. It was basically what I was going to tell you. It's never good to give cats "people" meds without the vet telling you to. You can also get L lysine in a tube but am not sure if it's only avail thru the vet (that's where I got mine). Until you can get kitty to the vet (which needs to be soon) you can ease the congestion some by using a vaporizer or my vet said to put the kitty in the bathroom when you shower - the steam will help. I had a kitty that was very ill from an upper respiratory infection (he was given a grim prognosis), I gave him the lysine, used steam, syringe fed him and gave him the antibiotics the vet gave me and he is now a thriving 6 month old brat! lol I hope your kitty gets better soon!

Good answers already and I'm in total agreement. There's nothing you can give the cat that you can get at a store. Do NOT give the cat any human meds - these can be deadly. Thankfully, though, the medication vets normally prescribe for upper respiratory/sinus infections is Clavamox and fairly inexpensive. I have two Persians and ones got a really bad infection that's being treated now. They generally start to feel a lot better in a couple of days and then all better within a week to ten days. The longer you wait, the worse it can get - especially if you have a snub-nosed kitty like mine.

Hopefully this is just a hairball. Try to give the cat some hairball treatment. If you have some at home give it to her tonight. You can also use a teaspoon of mineral oil. Also, a bit of Vaseline (petroleum jelly.) If the cats lungs actually sound congested you need to go to the vet and get her examined. Good luck!

Nothing made for humans is suitable for a cat. You can put a vaporizer in the room with her and that will help her cough up any congestion in her lungs, but you need to take her to a vet.

Please do not attempt to medicate your cat. Cats metabolize drugs very differently and things that are not toxic to you in small doses can be very harmful to your cat. If she is relatively comfortable apart from the congestion, just let her rest and she will probably recover well on her own. For anything more serious, take her to the vet for proper treatment.

Nothing. You can go to the Health Food Store and buy some L- Lysine capsule(250 mg.) and give her one twice a day,and the vaporizer or steamy bathroom and feeding her warm broth may help, but if she's congested, she probably needs antibiotics and may need diuretics and steroids to help her breathe. You need to take her to a vet.

Nothing. This is a problem for a Vet to care for.
Human medications are made for Humans and not animals.
