Well I have 8 tattoos. The one that hurt the most was the one on the small of my back. That one really hurt. Tattoos aren't that bad for pain. It all depends on the pain tolerance of the person. Just put it this way if u put it on ur arm or any where that has meat on ur bones it'll feel like a cat scratch. It will hurt a bit but it's tolerable. U have to remember the needle is goin thru about 7 layers of skin. So no worries. But make sure if u get a tattoo it's one that u want cause u'll be stuck with it for the rest of ur life. By the way My other tattoos I have 2 on my right arm, 1 on my left, 1 on my boob, 1 on my leg just above my ankel, 1 on my right shoulder blade, 1 on my left shoulder blade and the 1 on the small of my back. The one on the small of my back took 2 and a half hours to do. So good luck on ur decision

Pain depends on each person so no one answer fits you until you find out. A general rule of thumb is that the closer to bone you go (ie: shoulder, wrist) the more it will hurt because there is less fat to act as a barriar. For women lower back is common because it's got cushioning that most of the body doesn't have. Pick a spot you want that fits the tattoo and "suck it up". Pain is part of it, it is a needle after all but your body kicks in endorphans and zones out most of the pain. It's part of getting a tattoo.

-Not stupid enough to have one but ... Wow, didn't know that those of us with tattoos are all stupid. Oh, and lower back is farther from bone except right in the middle. (Not to the asker just to clarify but to an answer.)

Of course they hurt, you're damaging your skin with needles.

I wouldn't worry about where they hurt the most if you want to commit to a permanant spot on your body, (it's going to be painful so just commit to it or don't get one) but my friends have told me that the worst tattoos for pain were on the inner crooks of the arm and the backs of the knees. I've heard this from two people that both have tattoos pretty much all over the place.

Yes, they hurt. You don't suppose poking your skin with a needle would be cofortable, now would you?

The most painful parts are where there are no fat or muscle to take the impact of the needle. This is particularly true of your feet and toes. These are my personal favorites. They are beautiful places to be inked and the efforts you hve to endure to get them tattooed are sexy. As they say, no pain, no gain.

The bone and imagine a lot of needles going really fast in and out of your skin putting dye in lol.

I guess they hurt but it depends on the person how well they can tolerate pain.

It depends on your body and your skin... How much fat you have under the skin vs the bone and muscle... My tat is on my spine and it didn't hurt but then again I'm a fuller figured girl :) More fat, the less pain

Sensitive areas such as the foot + armpit area, and areas where there isnt much fat, like the hip and along the spine hurt the most.

In my experience feet and ankle hurt the most. Shoulderblades aren't very fun either, but not too painful compared to my foot and ankle ones..

I'd think ones on your head and neck would hurt, but I don't know from experience.

I'm not stupid enough to have one, but I would think where your skin is close to the bone would be the worst (ankle, top of foot, hand, lower back) and that where you have more meat would hurt least ( breast, butt, upper arm, thigh)

And yeah, everyone that I know has them say they really hurt BAD!!!!!!

I've heard that it hurts worse on boney areas. or ones with muscle.
Fleshy spots aren't supposed to hurt as bad.
(Stomach, back shoulder)
