After reading hundreds of "answers" here, I can't help feeling that - leaving the "Man-Made" religions out like Islam, Mormonism, Jehovah's witnesses, Scientology and all those wierdo-types that try to screw with your mind or want your assets when you die - there is a very good case to look seriously at the Christian way.
It sure makes sense that the "creator" must be more powerful and more intelligent than any of us or anyone who has ever gone before us because NO-ONE else has ever "created" their own universe or produced intelligent beings to populate the universe they have created.
Man ! Our scientists are still having problems with getting small pieces of tissue to "live" so that they can heal burns victims.
I THINK THERE MUST BE A GOD.
I THINK THAT GOD MUST HAVE "CREATED" THIS EARTH AND THE REST OF THE UNIVERSE.
I think it would be very dangerous for us to "white-wash" the Christian's ideas of GOD, Creation, and Future Judgement.
DO YOU ?

Thanks guys - there are some really good answers here. I still don't see how anyone can't believe in a "Creator" though, because no-one else has done it yet.
.
I'll let it keep going for further discussion - i like what most of you are saying.

To Gandalf Parker : I think you are half right too - I will reflect on "others" and be more careful in my wording.
.
Thanks too to those who mentioned Pascal's Wager - Because of my ignorance of this I had to research it, but sounds OK to me.

I am So happy you have started to believe.
If Christians are RIGHT - shouldn't we do all we can to prepare for the "Future" ?
There's really only one thing that I know of that you can do at this point in time Zapper!
And that is to pray to God and Repent.
Here is the sinners prayer and when God comes into your life and will never leave you or forsake you.
Dear God, I believe in you.
And also that you sent your only Son, Jesus and that He died for my sins.
I am sorry for everything I have done against you.
And I turn away from my sins now.
Please give me the Strength by your Holy Spirit to overcome sin and temptations.
Please fill me with your Holy Spirit as I start my New Life, walking in you my Lord and now Savior!*

Yes. I had a few dreams about a year ago (there were about three of them, and they each happened in the same night). The dream: I was lying in bed one night in the dark without any TV on or anything, so it was completely silent. It was pretty late, maybe about 1:00 in the morning, and all of a sudden, I felt a shock run through my body, you know, what you might feel at the very top of a rollercoaster. I was compelled to get up and look out of my window. When I peaked through the blinds, I didn't see anything around me, but then something caught my eye in the sky above. It was opening, and there was light spreading out into a broad circle (it looked kind of like the sun, but it was growing). Then, I heard a trumpet sound, and I had this feeling that something was about to happen to me, and I desperately wanted it to. I had been afraid when I got the feeling and looked up at the sky, but then I was washed over with excitement, and I knew it was time to go. I woke up then, and I had the dream a few times after that. Whenever I would go back to sleep, it would happen the same way over again. I believe this was a sign, and I truly hope that the rapture will be as great as it was in my dream. That circle of light was the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in a dream. It didn't hurt my eyes when I looked at it, and I knew that it was God opening the heavens to take his followers before the tribulation began. Hope this helps. God Bless.

you're on the right track, zapper. the next thing you should do is go and either rent or buy the movie or the book ''the case for Christ,'' by lee strobel. it will help you see the validity of the claims made in the synoptic gospels (the books of saints matthew, mark, luke, and john), and that's a good place to start. i know from my own experience that it's hard for us to come into faith sometimes, and i pray right now that you'll endure any resistance you may encounter during your conversion. if you do, something very powerful will happen in your life, and it will change your outlook forever, for the better. i'm excited to see you're coming around. the Lord be with you.

Pascals wager indeed...fact is...it makes no difference what the government values, or does not value...and the "logical" arguements, although weighty to any honest thinking person..are not the issue either.
The creator of heaven and earth has written His law upon the hearts of men...some call it a conscience...and you all know that you have broken that law...and as lawbreakers, you are under the judgement and yes, the wrath of God...
mock and blaspheme if you must, but unless you repent, you also will perish..and trust me, it does not matter whether you "believe in" it or not....EVERY knee will bow and every tongue confess...to the glory of God.....
we all need a savior, and God himself paid the price for our transgressions..will we despise the sacrifice..or surrender???

The best way to prepare I feel from what I've read in the Bible is faith, and prayer. Gods plan for the end times isn't something that we can change for those who choose to live in the flesh. To prepare is to die in the flesh, and live thru Christ. That way you are spiritually protected for eternity. White wahing Gods word is never a good idea. His word is so pure, if we change it, all we could do is pollute it. I think you are on the right track. God be with you!

Half of what you say is OK but Im not sure how you came up with your list of man-made religions. If you are going to speak pro-christian then you could have just left out that jab.
After all, Islam is the words given by ArchAngel Gabriel to a prophet recognized in the bible. And it recognizes Jesus as a prophet in return. And if you are going to recongize any prophet delivered religion then it seems rude to spit at any other prophet delivered religion.
Im all for God, and Im willing to read what prophets have to say, but Ive grown to distrust religions that are built up around them.
However, preparing for the future seems a good idea. From my point of view its not taking the attitude that if we screw up this world that God is going to take our side of it. Try fixing the planet for all life before taking the dodge that he will pull you up to heaven before delivering his wrath.

No. We should prepare for the future with reality in mind. None of these god-beliefs helps us with reality.
There is no sense in assuming any creator. There is no evidence that the universe was created. Even if you think there is a god, it does not make it true.
I think it is very dangerous for us to assume gods. Look what people have done in the name of gods.

Why does Christianity make more sense than Islam or Mormonism or Jehovah's Witnesses or Scientology? They have equal merit according to the government..

I think you are a nut. With a new version of Pascal's wager.
Sorry, but other than your personal opinion you don't provide anything to show Christianity is any less man made than any other religion.
