Vengence represents a mind of hate and ignorance. Those truely upright are free of hate.
Your question friend is one of a small child. Your misunderstanding of your religion is harming you.
You need to be able to practice forgiveness to be a true Christian.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.'But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

You didn't mention if this was a Christians-only question. In my beliefs(Forn sidr/Norse Heathen), we always pray for righteous vengeance. Vengeance is the exercise of justice in an unjust world. We only leave vengeance to the gods if we are unable to wreak proper vengeance ourselves.
We even have a goddess of vengeance. Her name is Skadi, winter goddess, snow queen, and avenger. Scandinavia is named after her.

You can pray for vengeance but it is already promised so you don't need to ask for it.
Your work is to make available to people His Rescue from that vengeance. The vengeance of God is terrible and we also would be deserving of it if not for His long-suffering. It is our work to emulate Him in long-suffering and grace.
Trust Him to keep His Word in all matters. He suffered also at the hands of the evildoers. Never forget that.
If you want scriptures just look up the words "vengeance" and "avenge" and "repay" in your Strong's concordance.
