Since god created everything and we are his children, than wouldn't that technically make it a mother.

I do not believe that our creator is man or woman, yet a spirit with the knowledge of both beings. Man wrote the BIBLE and thus, Man would make God a man. Before the BIBLE came into play, people worshipped women because THEY were given the ability to GIVE LIFE and man could only contribute. Funny how things change.

Well considering that most paths have a Divine PARENT, I would say it would be erroneous to label "God" just a man or a woman. Now if you are considering what a man and woman is allegorical towards, or what they can represent as a force considering their uniqueness in sex, then a Male would be an Active Force, a Female an Reflective Force, and the Child or Offspring between the two the Neutralizing Force. This pattern is replicated through out ALL things, all things is basically sex, or the interaction between these polarities of force, you even have the positive and negative, same principle.

Imo the active force can't bring about anything without the reflective force, it is impossible. It's like asking a man to create a baby by himself alone. The Male/Active is generative the Female/reflective is nurturing, or able to raise up, develop up. In the womb of the mother is the seed grown up and developed. TBHIMO God is an Parent, There is Father/Mother God. In Gnostic mythology which is allegorical for the mind, everything is really created "through" the Mother, the male gives the females develop or manifest that which is given into an actual form. There is nothing that can exist or could exist without the Active and Reflective forces interacting. Consider the atom... all these things are patterns that permeates all things.

IF such a thing as god exists then I feel it would not be a being like people are referring to it as. Also, In the books of gods which were written a long long time ago, women did not and in some countries still do not have the same rights as men, and were/are treated as second class citizens, hence he had a SON and not a daughter. Therefore it was not even considered that god could be a WOMAN!!. personally I think these books are legend and "a legend is a rumour + time" (Billy Connolly).

I may get thumbs down, but my view is God is the creator regardless of gender. This is what the concept of God is about and this is why we worship and ask for forgiveness to. We don't worship our mothers but take care of them and respect them. If we are His children then how come we end up in a womans womb.
Just thought to share a view...

Go burn your Bra Jessica, this old chestnut never gets any better. Personally I don't believe that your perceived "God " is either a woman or a man, anyone who does is nothing short of Barking Mad ! When the Bible, Q'ran And Torah were written women were chattles and furthermore the English language which these books have been translated into through many many languages before it, was structured before the advent of Feminism.
How many Catholic Bishops are female ? How many Mullahs are women ? Not too many Lady Rabbi's either.......
These are the religions that you receive your perception of God from.........don't hold your breath for any change soon :-)

The only reason most people believe God is a man is because we live in a patriarchal society. I don't believe God is a man or a woman, just a supreme being. I still think of God as a man though because it's the way I was brought up. Plus giving God a gender makes God more relatable.

We don't, but I doubt God has particular gender, much less a certain sex. (Particular gods of particular religions, are another thing....) As I see it making/creating (neuter) and giving birth (female) are valid metaphors, but not literal statement and so don't imply a literally male maker or female mother.

If there is a "personal"/anthropomorphic deity It could be male, female, or neuter, or plural but we don't know for certain. If God is impersonal I see no need for a gender (other than as a personal metaphor).

My God is a woman as was the God of neolithic man. Goddess worship has been around far longer then Christianity so God was actually a Goddess.

It was later religions(Christianity included) who turned Goddess into God.

sorry dads still do 1/2 the creating so stop hogging all the credit. Its attitudes like yours that have fostered a world where teen mothers are abandoned by their boyfriends because as you say children come from mothers.

The Christians have a lot invested in keeping their god male, even though they will give you a lot of double talk about how the male pronoun includes male and female, which is such an antiquated BS idea, it reeks. They want to deny the Divine Feminine, their versions of females in their bible are either whores (Eve) or virgins(Mary). In Christianity, you can't be a normal sexual female mother, but you can in paganism.

This whole thing about their god being male is one of the main reasons I couldn't stomach Christianity any longer. In my opinion, the gods and the goddesses are creations of the minds of humans, and these archetypes have their functions in our society, but none of them exists out therein the cosmos as we have dreamed them up to be, and CERTAINLY AREN'T EXCLUSIVELY MALE! What a totally preposterous notion!!! Christians, do you realize how degrading and insulting and debasing it is to women for your god to be referred to as male only??? Especially when a number of Christians say that god is neither sex! Well, if your god is neither sex, WHY DO YOU STILL SAY HE?????

I use capital letters bc this whole question is one that I have brought up before and have received nothing but nonsense answers or misogynistic patriarchal from the Christians. Enough is enough! They won't listen, they aren't going to see the light of reason, so the HELL with them. Throw out the bath water, there is no baby in there!

Thank you for bringing up a subject which SHOULD be put in the front row OFTEN, as sexual equality MUST be a priority for us as a species.

Bright Blessings,
Lady Morgana )0(
