You are supposed to gently wash your tattoo after removing the bandage. So yes, you can shower just keep the water from hitting it directly and pat dry, no rubbing. Moisturize lightly with a white unscented lotion, H2Ocean or whatever the shop recommends.
The time depends on the size and how much detail. I got my second tattoo three weeks ago and asked my artist while he was doing it what took longest. His answer was black, you have to go over it more to make sure that it's solid and not blatchy. He also said that colors other than white go on pretty easily and that breaks it down to how much detail and how often they have to change color. Most of mine is black with some pink, white and a couple tones of brown. Out lining is pretty fast since they are following lines, color takes longer just because of the in between cleaning and having to make it even.
-This one is about 4 by 3 also, it took just under an hour from the time I layed down to the time he finished. The bigger it is the longer it will take in theory.

When you get a tattoo, all artists will tell you that you should wash it when you get home. You should take a shower either when you get home or sometime during that day, but you should wash it with anti bacterial soap...
The time it takes for a tattoo depends on the artist, your skin, the tattoo, and the colors you want...
The outline is the longest part of the tattoo... Anytime you move wrong or jump, they have to go back over that line or area, to correct any squiggly lines.
The shading is the quickest.
Remember they may have to change needles for shading, this can take a few minutes... Also changing colors can take some time.
Your artist may take breaks during the tattoo, to let you and them use the bathroom or grab a drink of pop or something. Or to let you relax for a minute if the position you are in is uncomfortable...
My tattoo was very simple, but it took 1 hour 40 minutes. I happen to be anemic and I was retaining water, so it took longer to do the tattoo...
The artist will know during outlining, the time it will take to finish your ink.
Everyone is different... Some people can get an extensive, completely detailed tattoo done in 2 hours, and some days... Some larger tats, may need sessions, which can last months based on schedules and time conflicts...

I have 4 tattoos. Mine took anywhere from 15 mins to almost an hour to get done. The coloring in takes longer than the out line, but also I think that part hurts the most. I have 2 that are all black, and 2 that have color. You are able to shower soon after, and will have to wash it as well. For the best aftercare, you can go to the link below. This is the tattoo place I got all of mine!

After a tattoo i think it's one hour they have you wait until you wash it gently with mild soap and water and then reapply some of the oinment they give you. Never use neosporin it causes the color to pull out apparently. Depending on the size and detail of the tat is how long it takes. I have Eeyor eon my ankle and it took maybe 20 minutes to outline and color in. The horse I have on my shoulder took and hour and a half to outline and start color on. took another hour about 3 weeks later to finish coloring but it is extremely detailed. Then I have a Japanese symbol on the outsid eof my other ankle which took 15 min, same for the black and grey outline of a rearing horse on inside of same ankle. Lower back is a celtic knot that is HIGHLY detailed took about an hour and is still a work in progress. Have to wait until Jan though as i'm pregnant right now and can't have any work done on it. It also depends on the artist. Some guys are so good they can go quicker than others. Coloring and shading on mine definately took sth elongest. But I have a lot of color on the one in my shoulder Also if you are doing a cover up that takes loads of time b/c they have to go deeper than the orginal tat to cover it up. It also hurts a little more than normal. I have never cried when I got a tattoo , but when I got the hors eon my shoulder (it's about 7 inches tall and 4 inches wide maybe a little wider) to cover up a tat i got and wound up regretting, I cried when they got to my shoulder blade b/c there is no meat there and they had to go like I said deeper than before..... but other than that area it was all good

The answer to this depends on the size of the tattoo itself and also the person doing the tattoo. I am assuming you would want someone professional and they tend to be rather quick at their work.
I have a few, the one on my neck is about 4" tall and 3" wide and it took about an hour to do. Black outline with about 3 colors. (It's a flower with leaves on the back of my neck.)
I would suggest calling some local tattoo parlors in your area (or if there are none finding some in the next state where you may plan to go) and talking to some of the guys there.

The amount of time that it takes to get a tattoo depends upon the size and color of the tattoo. If you want a larger tattoo with lots of color, it may actually take several days to get it completely finished.

It depends on the size, the detail and how much needs to be colored in and/or shaded. Yes you will be able to take a shower just don't scrub the tattoo itself. Also put A&D ointment on the tattoo for the week after, it will help the healing process.

Depending on what the Design is...outlines would be the first step....depending on the complexity of the tattoo, usually the "out-line" takes the most time. It also depends upon the experience of the 'artist'. If you're wondering about "pain"...it feels like a little red ant biting you...in other words, it feels like an instant sun-burn...but only for about 45 minutes...most people get used to the feeling right away, and keep coming back for more...me ...I only have two...but it took longer to do the out-lines than the colour...sorry for rambling...

It depends on how big the tattoo is...I believe you have to wait a while before takin a shower ( you cant have water directly hit it depending on where you get it)
