Whether it's needed or not, it will always be part of humanity and nothing will change that.

Religionless world is an utopia. We are so conditioned that we can not live without religion. Buddha advocated. He went to the extent that "There is no God". This is possible only when the functions of religions are taken over by State. Since it is impossible that state replaces Religion, it is not possible to erase religions fro the face of the world. The Buddhism failed in India only because it could not got institutionalised as a religion during the life time of Buddha.
It is somthing like an Institution created to oppose all Institutions.

Only human beings have the capacity to think and reason. Any human being on earth understands a good act. A good act only brings good feelings in the other. For the primitive man who lacked a lot of scientific proof to understand nature religion was a comfort. Life is hard and to blame the mishappenings to God was again a comfort. Not taking responsibility for your failure was an escape, but for the responsible ones failure becomes a challenge, and one thinks that there is surely one way this works and eventually he meets with success. If Thomas Edison did not destroy 900 bulbs and still said "i know there are 900 ways that a bulb will not light up, we would not have light bulbs today.
Intrinsically we are tuned to be good, hence we all can move to the good even if we did not have religion to follow. This is a real human being. We dont need religions to tell us the right and wrong, our sensitivity is inbuilt, We all have DNA, (divine natural awareness) to lead us to happiness.
Religions rob us of our awareness, they rob us of our reasoning, they rob us our happiness. They really need to go. I see this happening, because today religions are in the frying pans, and is debated openly. Thanks to Yahoo!

It's true that overly religious groups cause trouble often in a wide scale, like the muslims bombing places and hijacking planes. However, I think religion has a very good side in that it:
1. Keeps us occupied;
2. Gives us a direction in life;
3. Keeps us going (perseverance);
4. Makes a majority of us happy by knowing that God, Allah, etc. will always be there for us and will listen to our prayers.
That is my opinion, although I'm an atheist and I often criticize the concept of God and religion.

No, not everyone needs religion, however, many still do. There may come a time when humanity will outgrow the need to interpret spiritual realization with words but clearly that time has not come. Yes religion is the excuse many use to harbor hate and intolerance but hate and intolerance are a human affliction not limited to the religious.

Yes we really need any religion. Because its gives us peace in our life. When we disturbed from any unwillingness thing and we are totally helpless I think the holy books reading or believing on our god must be sure give us relaxation. It also give us to maintain our life better. Today we are believing in religion to show herself great but we are forgiving others and that way we are going to wrong way. So all religion are alright but followers are some time going wrong way due to mistaken or they want to show himself better. We have to follow the main things of religion not the religious leaders what they say and what is right to follow it or not. So it depends on us when we only accept their comments then there will not possible to improvement in our life. Because the religious leaders are also a human person and they always wants ahead in the line. we have to decide what to do or not for ourselves or for others so all of us know each other best in the world and giving the help in progressive world.

A disciplined man does not need it .it is needed for disciplining the life of people and not foir destruction and fostering ill will and enmity amoing people of different faith.this is what has been achieved by die hards and people intolerant to criticism.
Those whi do not respect others ( other faiths howeer different it migt ge from hteir own) will never be able to contribute to peace .
people who ae educated are the worst in this aspect .

I think it's needed. If I didn't have the values God set before me, I would have the mentality of "who SAYS I can't do that? By what authority does THAT person or group of people have on ME?" Selfishness is not valued in ANY culture, but I believe that people, as a whole, would become more selfish without religion/God.

A form of a belief system and spirituality is good. No matter which path you take, but it is when man kills, maims or otherwise does harm in the name of their God/religion is when it is bad. Also when we argue about whose religion is best can lead to what man does in the name of his God/religion. As for prayers, they are a form of focusing intent.

Religion is nothing more than mans way of reaching toward the Divine.
Yet G-d in His grace came to us for a relationship.
think about it. and take a look at the 5th question I answered just before this on the separation of church and state. just food for thought.
