Other than being a little awkward if he's in a cast it shouldn't matter. You could try sliding his bed against a wall, and using pillows to prop back up against so that he doesn't roll over to that side during the night. I would even go so far as to tuck sheets and blankets in firmly on that side before sliding bed over.

Sleeping on it if it has a cast is no problem for the arm. The problem is it might be uncomfortable for him. you need to have a extra pillow or two on his bed, the arm goes under one of the pillows as he sleeps on the side of with broken arm . That is the most comfortable position for him at the moment.

Try several extra pillows next to your son, or a roll of blankets or comforters. Place it next to him on the side with the broken arm (assuming he is lying on the side with the uninjured arm). When he tries to roll in that direction his back will encounter this obstacle and he won’t roll any farther. Be careful, though, as this may become his favorite way to sleep. Many folk find this double cradle of bed and obstacle very comforting.

I know is looks horribly uncomfortable, but if the arm is cast, sleeping on it shouldn't be a problem. At least if he is sleeping on it, he won't flail around and whack himself in the head with the cast.....

Have him lie on his right side and put a couple pillows against his back. If he tries to turn in the night the pillows will stop him.

Take a rope and tie it around his cast, then attach the rope to the ceiling so it doesn't have much slack. Problem solved!
