Because they are not humans and are not subject to the same things that influence human life span. They have also been on the planet much longer than humans so it would stand to reason they have had more time to evolve and adapt so that they can live a long time. Trees also grow very slowly, so of course they will live a long time.

Not all trees live longer than ll humans. Some trees are nly around for 30-40 years.

The metabolic rates of organisms vary.

Trees can repair damage and continue growing. Also can humans, but depending on the location of the damage...Some injuries are immediately fatal.

Simple answer, genetic coding.

Its in their make up. Its like the question why do we live longer than deer. Its just the way they are made up. They don't really move physically, so injuries to the main tree is down.

Not much of a life, is it? For a tree. Couple thousand years of being in one place. If they had brains they'd have long since gone stir-crazy. What are you gonna do today? Perform photosynthesis. Any other plans? Nope, not really. Shed a few leaves maybe, that's about it. The star that burns four times as bright burns four times as fast. Or perhaps 100 times as bright and fast.

because they can grow back entire limbs, do not start wars or move, are alot harder and can survive harsh conditions. we wear out our bodies alot more then a still tree soaking in the sun.

other than those factors, i am not sure. Why do we die at a certain age when our body has the ability to repair/replace all the organs and cells in our body?
