There are adult areas like casinos and discos, kids have teen lounges and arcades. Besides the pools, shows, ice rink and rock wall, what can a mom and 13 yr old do TOGETHER on board? The ship is Freedom of The Seas. Thank you!

I went on the Freedom last year and you pretty much covered many of the things. BUT, you didn't mention boogie boarding on the Flowrider, shooting hoops on the basketball court, playing mini-golf, playing ping-pong, playing shuffle board, going to the game room and playing all of the board and card games that are available (monopoly, scrabble, yatshee, etc), working out together in the gym, walking on the track on the top deck, go together into the arcade and play together, go to Johnny Rockets and have burgers, fries, and a shake ($5. each cover).

Then when you get tired from that go read in the library, or get on the internet, or just find a spot on deck somewhere where its quiet and just talk (about how you are enjoying the cruise , each other's company, and any and everything else) you do not need a prop or venue to do that.

Now all of that is in addition to all of the opportunities you will have off the ship on tours. When you get to Labadee go explore the island together, its a big place and exploring will be fun. When you get to Jamaica do either the Dunn's River Falls trip or the Rafting trip; both are great trips you can do together. When you get to Grand Cayman just go to the beach and have a fun day.

OK, when you get back you need to right your review. Have a good trip, I know we did.

Absolutely!! You can't go wrong with Carnival or Royal Caribbean with regards to teens. Depending on which ship you're doing, they may have a rock climbing wall, ice skating rink, the flow rider and many more things to keep the kids occupied. As far as curfew...I don't think there is one. For younger kids that go to the kids camp the program ends at around 10. I've been on cruises where it's 3AM and the older teens are still walking around..but obviously you can't drink or go to the casino. Makeout?? You certainly don't need a cruise ship for that. Unless you're going with your girlfriend, don't bet on finding a girl that quick. Remember, she's probably there with her parents also.

You have eliminated most of the great things to do together (swim, shows, ice skating, rock climbing ...). However, there is also miniature golf. There is a game room with card and board games. You can enjoy lunch together at Johnny Rockets. You can go into town together (on port days). You can go to the Royal Promenade and people watch together. You can explore the ship together. You can go out to the bow and pretend like you are Rose on the Titanic. You can go to the beach together (on port days). You can play bingo together (the parent will have to collect any winnings). You can shop together in the on board stores, or the stores in the ports you will visit. You can work out together in the fitness center. You can go on shore excursions together. Or you can go to one of the lounges and sit, talk and relax.

kids could go to the casino I think, just no drinking or gambling, they could observe and learn though

also, shooting skeet, not very good to eat and they really don't suffer much

I'm guessing maybe just talking during dinner would be enough for parents and kids, unless they are very close.

I'm kinda guessing he or she would want to be around the other teens mostly.
