Can you BELIEVE what this person is claiming about us? Who in their right mind would lie about something like that, and in such a transparent way? (Samhain hasn't happened yet, for example.) It's mean-spirited and pointless.

EDITED TO ADD: The question has been deleted, apparently by Customer Care. Dammit, I wish now that I had copied the text down... it was one heckuva piece of lying.

But to recall it as best I can... the "First Degree Priestess" in question, a member of the "Eclectic Church of Wicca" out of Canberra, claimed that they just had a Samhain ritual where, as part of the "ancient rites", she had sex with "about 200" guys, including her brother. And she clearly stated that this was a Wiccan ceremony. :-P

InfernalDisaster, there were clear signs in the story that she was lying, including the statement that they just held their Samhain rites (when Samhain is definitely NOT for at least another two and a half weeks, and in fact is a good six months past if she's truly from the southern hemisphere) and the statement that as a first degree priestess she would be a "spokesperson" for three covens. To a Wiccan who knows Wicca, those are clearly false statements.

It saddens me to see so many doing their best to portray Wicca as lust-focused and evil.
They obviously know nothing about Wiccan history or practice but continue corrupt Wicca in the minds of non-Wiccans, especially Christians.
As a Franciscan friar, I commend my Wiccan sisters and brothers for their reverence of our mother earth and for their efforts to heal and protect her.
Blessed be.

I'm glad you pointed this out! I answered the question (which has now been deleted) and my response was that she is obviously a pathological liar and attention seeker. I hope you know that there was no threat to the reputation of Wicca -anyone with half a brain could see this was a lie.
I was particularly amused with the part that read "everyone was busy so few were able to attend..." yet out of those 'few' she had sex with 200 men. I wonder who kept count for her and which woman could deal with that-I doubt even a professional hooker could do 200 men in 24 hours -LMAO!!

What unquestionably bothers me is that those with the incorrect information look believed maximum of the time than those that prepare and learn intimately. I additionally do not understand the way somebody taking a comparative faith class can not pass away their faith on the door. nevertheless the countless "strategies you grow to be Wiccan" have made me ask your self the place the innovations get began and why they're believed contained in the 1st place.

Some will stop at nothing to try and degrade the beliefs of others. Obviously, someone feels threatened by the growing popularity of Wicca.

In Australia its well over...she has no idea what she is talking about. For her I believe its about to be Imbolc...if I got my hemispheres correct.
She is clearly a fake and just yanking chains. But still she does give us a bad name.
Why, because she can. Its so easy to do. And there are those who will believe her because they want to.
I tried to get to the question again and it has been deleted, at least that is the message I got. We can only hope.
Blessings,
Aviana

I don't think that's really true, but if it is, I feel really bad for that girl, and I hope she seeks out help. And I hope she realizes that whatever religion she's practicing, it's certainly not Wicca.

Maybe this person is telling the truth, or maybe not.
There is no way to know for sure, unless of course you were there and can verify first hand what happened. Although I must admit, "200+ men" seems ludicrous.
If it did happen, it nothing to do with Wicca and everything to do with a few people using Wicca to act like pigs.

The saddest part of is that some people will actually believe it to be true. Any wiccan or friend of wiccans will know that's it's bs, but some christian fundies will want to believe and site it as proof that wicca is the work of the devil.

It's appalling. I doubt that anyone would believe such an obvious attempt to discredit another belief system, but I'm really glad you pointed it out to us.

wow, that IS blatent stupidity on her part.
*sighs*
don't get me wrong, it is disappointing
and disrespectful
and does bring a great saddness to me...that someone is so insecure in what their religion truly is that they need to insult ours.
But I almost have to laugh, I mean, who would actually believe any of that? were any of the answerers seriously buying it?
Thanks for bringing it to the front light though dear, I wouldn't have known about it otherwise.
Blessed be.
