I had the pleasure of falling in love with my best friend.
I trusted him, I loved him. He knew everything about me, and vice versa.
He drinks a lot and he hit me, a bunch of times.
I got away from him....moved out of state....however,
I miss my best friend like mad. I'm not quite sure what to do.

Find a new group of friends. Any man that hits a woman should go to jail. You aren't much of a friend or a man if you do that. You made the mistake of thinking you could change him, make him not be a drunken bum. You could easily been seriously injured, or worse. You can't change him, and you shouldn't try. I don't know why you would put up with being hit and still care about someone who cares more about getting drunk than about you. You must know you deserve to be treated like a friend and not a punching bag. There are men out there that won't hit you or get drunk and abuse you. Remember why you moved and be thankful you were not beaten to death.

I'm sure. No best friend would ever hit another best friend. Even once, is too much. There is no going back, just rember the fond memories. If you ever consider going back, remember getting hit, a bunch of times. This will not change!!
So, if you like getting the crap beat out you, fine. I would advise you to find a real man, that doesn't feel the need to take out his aggressions on his mate, because he is to much a wimp to do it on who he is really mad at.
And, good luck, there are really nice guys out there, please find one!

that's so sad that your best friend hurt you like that. you miss him a lot, but a friend wouldn't do that to you. your best friend should not be someone who treats you so bad :( i don't think there is anything you can do but try to get over it somehow. find more friends, try to meet a new guy, get involved in some hobbies. i'm sorry, that's all i can say.

stay away from him. never contact an abusive ex! my ex was emotionally unstable, and when i contacted him, he threatened my life and such. so its not a very good idea.
