Do a bunch of research on "how to take care of a dog", and tell your parents what you have learned about all the responsibility of caring for an animal. The importance of fresh water and food everyday, the importance of exercise and ALL that is involved, and even cleaning up after them....that means cleaning up poo poo from the yard.
Remember that it does cost a lot of extra money to take care of an animal.
This includes:
food
doctor (vet) bills - every year for shots to keep them healthy, and if they get sick.
Most parents don't get pets for kids, because the kids end up not taking care of them, and the parents end up with more responsibility AND extra money to have to spend.
If you feel that you can be a responsible pet owner, than prove that to your parents by letting them know how responsible you can be and how much you know about taking care of them.
I hope you get your dog, and that you are a great dog owner and give it the best home with a lot of love.
Good luck!

Well, if you have been asking for a dog for all your life and you still havent received one, your parents must have good reasons. Think about these things for a moment.
Dogs require a lot from their owners. They not only need loads of attention, they are also very costly. Vet bills and food to name just some of their needs, do not come cheap.
Are your parents financially able to take care of the dog? (meaning, do they make enough money?)
Would someone be home with the dog to train it and take it outside for walks and playtime? I imagine you may be asking for a puppy? Most kids want puppies and they are even more work then an adult dog. With a puppy, someone either needs to be home or it needs to be in a dog day care of some sort. Those are costly too.
Are you yourself responsible? Often times parents say no because they feel their child isnt quite ready to handle such a big responsibility yet. I have seen many kids beg their parents for dogs and cats and once they get it, the parents are left to feed it, walk it or change its litter box. Your going to be a teen soon.. what are you going to do when you have more of a social life? Or a boyfriend even? Are you going to have time for a dog?
These are just things to consider hun, Im not trying to say your not ready, I dont even know you.. but I do think that if you show responsibilty, maybe by helping around the house, maybe going to the library and taking out books on the specific breeds you are interested and realy learn what it takes to be a dog owner, maybe then your parents will see how much you have learned and that your realy serious about this, and maybe they will get you a dog.
Good luck (:

No offense, but at ten you aren't really old enough to take on the responsibilities of a dog. They are hard work, time consuming, and expensive. If you have to beg your parents they obviously have been saying no, which just means that they know how hard it is to care for a dog.
What you should do is, ask them if you can volunteer at a animal shelter, vet clinic, or rescue facility. That way you will be able to be around dogs but not have to deal with the negative stuff, like picking up poop, giving them medicine, etc.
Good luck

You're 10 years old? Hmmm...if your parents don't want to get you a dog it's because dogs are a lot of work and they don't feel like having to take care of it because they probably think that you won't take care of it on your own. Dogs are expensive too. And dogs are a real pain in the butt if you don't train them well. My advice is to beg them for a cat instead. Cats are a lot easier to take care of and can be just as much fun (if not more fun) than a dog. This answer is coming from the "parent" of 2 cats and 1 puppy. I adore them all, but believe me, the cats cause a lot less stress...the puppy drives me nuts! (My one cat plays fetch with me and I didn't even have to teach her that...meanwhile, my puppy is happiest while chewing on my clothes. UGH!!!)

You call that unfair? Mostly everyone only has a dog for their life and you owned:
Betta Fish
Gold Fish
Firebellied Toads
African Dwarf Frogs
Yeah...that's really unfair...My opinion is don't beg, it'll only get worst

the only reason i got a puppy was because of my dad but now my mum and dad are separated my mum got be a puppy.
Also if you do want to try and beg say that you will talk it walks even if it's snowing, pick up it's business, feed it when it needs to be fed, worm it, bath it and all that sort of stuff because that what you need to do and it isn't really that hard and it is well worth it and don't be fussy on what type of dog you get and do lost of research to see what dog it best for your lifestyle and try and find the cheapest
also my advice is try and get a female dog because they are better for someone who has never had a dog.

Ever wondered why u r not getting that dog? Whatever happened to ur oth pet? U said had... r they still alive?
Maybe u shld ask urself if u r responsible enuf to get a dog? They r a living being not a toy to buy and get rid as n when u please.
or maybe the cost is a prob? Dogs are not cheap and they r not easily maintain. they crave attention and u need time n patience to train them. play wif them and do things wif them.
Unless u can show ur parents that u r responsible enuff or tat u hv the time and energy and attention span on the dog. Then dun ask for it. Its cruel to get a dog just coz u want it and then let it fend for itself.

I have a dog of my own. But i want another one because i love dogs / puppies. My Mother will let me have another but my Father doesn't like dogs that much so he keeps on saying no!
My mother and I want another dog so we are working together to try and convince my Father to let us have a dog.
We convince him by telling him that ( because the next dog we get will be mine ) I will look after it by myself, it won't go near you at all, you don't even have to do any thing with it, it will be my responsibility to take care of it!
That is what i keep telling him and i also say please a lot!
But.... don't always say please every day to your parents say it every three days so your parents have time to think about getting a dog. Also show how responsible you are so that they know that you would really want a puppy!
Good Luck!

Ask them for a adult dog from a shelter for your birthday or Christmas!
Ask for an adult dog or wait until you get a lil older!
Adult dogs are easier than puppies, adn a adult dog from a shlter is the best!
Even if you get a puppy or adult dog your only 10 you cant even walk the dog.
But ask them just to give you a chance with an older shelter dog!
Or better yet ask your parents can you foster dogs!

well first you need to have a friend get a dog and say but look she got a dog and then one of your friends just for some reason found out that shes chemically alergic to dogs and then you say the dog is alergic to them and it could possibly die in the next few days, then you have to hypmotize your parents 3 hours before you get the dog then hypmotize the dog so they love each other, dont be scared if they seem a little to in love your mom and dad might just find out that its best to go two ways, my parents did that when i was 6 1/8 i was devastaed but once i got a dog i was fine and thats when i hypmotized it!!
