Hi! =]
I'm from NY and really want to visit Ireland, Scotland and England. I was hoping for some suggestions for specific towns and places to visit, maybe even with some pictures attached!

While London is an obvious, I really want to see more rural areas =].
Love me my countryside! =P

Dublin is always worth a visit, take a look at Trinity collage library whilst there; it is amazing even if you don't much like books. On O'Connell st. you can find the post office that was the sight of the Easter Rebellion, one of the oldest department stores in the world and the Gresham hotel..mentioned by James Joyce and one of the oldest and most luxurious hotels in Ireland' and on Grafton street near the collage you will find molly Malone's statue, the oldest working fish and chip shop in Europe and the coffee shop in which the early sien fienners did their plotting. All good stuff!
As for England..London of course, why not? Being from N.Y. you can probably take the noise and bustle and even if you do get lost in Harrods, its worth getting lost in for a while in spite of the prices. If you want a really English restaurant experience then go to Simpson's in the strand..not cheap and they have a dress code but the set lunch menu will be the best English food you'll get anywhere and in the most comfortable atmosphere in London.
Stratford upon Avon seems to be a must see destination for Americans but if you do stay in the midlands at all then try to join a tour the factory shops in Stoke on Trent..Wedgwood,Waterford,Royal Doulton and so on and on and there are endless castles and cathedrals to be visited of course..enjoy your stay anyway.

Birmingham is definitely worth a visit, it has better shopping facilities than anywhere else in the UK. Brilliant nightlife in Brum and excellent food and hotels. The architecture is amazing and then there's cadbury world, the sea life centre, the NIA, The barber institute of fine arts, The mailbox, brindleyplace and so much more to see and do. The only other place i would recommend is Liverpool: a brilliant city with everything you could need during a visit. Manchester however is a no go, boring, frumpy, dull, crime riden, rude people and so many more factors that make Manchester a not very nice place to be.

Visit these websites for more information on Birmingham and Liverpool:

Hope this helps!

my family and I spent 2 weeks this summer in England- 1 in London, of course. But, the other week we spent in the Cotswolds area- where there are many, many small, quaint villages with beautiful gardens, thatched roofs and made from beautiful rose colored stone. Our favorites were Broadway, Winchcombe, Bourton-on-the-Water and so many more! Some have castles to tour, all have lovely shopping areas, some have the advantage of being close enough to each other that you can walk to the next village and all have nice places for an afternoon tea with scones and clotted cream! We just had a fabulous time and can't wait to go back! Next time, we'll spend more time in the Cotswolds. Google it and get tons of info. Have a great trip!

Brighton is really cool. Lots to see and do. City by the sea with the added advantage of a short bus trip to the Downs (very beautiful English country side). It's also a short train trip from London!
