The only thing that matters right now is that you help him find an excellent lawyer.

In order for the law to come in and raid and with that big of a raid party they have plenty of evidence or they wouldn't have been able to have gotten approval for that kind of manpower for it. They've had to be doing survellience on this person and seen drugs being sold from the house. And possibly have witnesses, I would say. Even if your friend only had one bag that was found. You need better friends because "friends" like this will do nothing but get you in trouble. You better believe this is something very serious. Not counting the bag they found, any witnesses and any surveiliance will be used against this person. Drugs are nothing to mess with, and once they get you for attempting to deal or distribute that person is going to get some serious time. Sorry but nobody really knows someone until they live with them. We all want to hope and wish and believe we know someone but it doesn't always make it so. Good luck, best wishes.

before the cops stage a raid, they usually have information from 2-3 separate sources that the house is being used as a drug den, or that drugs are being made there (like a meth cook). They may stake the house out and film the comings and goings of known drug users or dealers. If they get lucky, the raid nets them a big score. If they are unlucky, the user or dealer got warning and got rid of the stuff before the raid.

We don't arrange an operation like that unless there is a great deal of information indicating that this person is a dealer and a sizeable dealer at that. It takes more than one or two people saying "Hey, Bob sold me a bag of dope."
Those operations are very expensive and dangerous so the cops get their information straight first. Yes mistakes are made but that is rare.

OK I am a retired Deputy Sheriff and I will tell you exactly what happened.. This guy has messed around with someones girl friend and who ever it was has squealed on him.. i.e. everyone knows (except the cops) that he is not a dealer but a user... So the Narc.... called the police when he knew this guy had some new stuff in the house... and dropped the dime and said this guy is a dealer and he has stuff there now and that's how it came down..... Good luck Grant M in Pennsylvania

Well, they either got a tip, or maybe he is selling and they have been watching him, they usually don't raid unless they have evidence of drugs, for instance if they have sales on him, or an indictment. If all they found was 1 bag, depending on how much was in that bag is what he will be in trouble for, anything 29 grams or over is a felony, which equals 1 oz. Anything less than that they will get him with most likely a possesion, unless like I said they have proof of a sale.

Well, in order to do a drug raid, they have to have done surveillance of the house for awhile. He might also not be telling you the whole story, most people who do drugs also sell to support their habits. He is probably snitching and telling people they only found a bag of weed in the meantime setting up other people to be raided. I would stay clear of this winner if I was you. As to the seriousness of it, if they only found a bag its not serious at all, just because they raid doesn't mean hes in trouble. And for god sakes stay in school, lay off the pot and learn how to spell.

So they found a bag...How much was in the bag? An eighth? A quarter? If its just personal use stuff then they can't get him on intent to distribute. If he is dealing and they just didnt catch him at the right time then he should probably keep quiet and rethink his bussiness tactics or maybe just smarten up all together and get a job .... like dealing cars. Cars make more than weed

Well in all fairness to both sides, you really can't be sure what is/was happening unless you were with this person 24/7. I know he's your friend and you want to support him but the best thing to do is keep an open mind and wait for everything to play out. From personal experience working with drug teams, if there were that many officers from different jurisdictions, there is more going on in this case than your friend is telling you.

Are you sure they only found one bag of weed...or is that what your friend told you, or what you heard someone say??? I bet if the facts were found...it would be more than ONE bag...and I doubt that 25 officers raided his house. Major drug houses with lots or drugs and weapons don't have that many officers charge into them.

If the bag was big enough it can be clasified as possesion with intent to sell. They deem that its too much for one person to use so he must be selling it. As far as why they raided his house, he must have been seen with it by police or sold it to undercover police officers. Sorry but he's a dealer.
