Quite often, the person tailgating, is AFRAID to pass you, and they will stubbornly stay back there no matter HOW slow you go.

The problem is they continue to tailgate, expecting you to speed up to the speed THEY want to go.

These people are DANGEROUS. If they DO get up the nerve to pass, they almost always do so in a manner that wreaks havoc on the roadway.

Flip a booger on their windshield. Really what I do is just move over and give them the single finger salute under the dash board. I know this is stupid but when you hear about all this road rage, it's probably the best idea.
During the winter I used to drive thru the slush that accumulates on the side of the road, peopl tend to back off then.

i usually pull over after a while and let them go ahead and pass, what i really want to do most of the time is hit the brakes, but i know if i do this is i,ll be at fault,i have been tempted to do this though, but that would be wrong because it would cause an accident, and i would be at fault, these days i just pull over and let the go by,its a lot easier than starting trouble with them, good luck.

I slow down until they quit. If you slam on your brakes, they
will often cut close in front of you and do the same. I carry a
gun. If I judge the aggressive driver to be a possible threat, I
place my gun on the passenger seat using motion that will
display it to the offending driver. I'm not anxious to shoot
somebody but I will not be a victim of road rage either.

I turn my mirrors and forget about the tailgater's existence, continuing at a pronouncedly leisurely pace. I am responsible for what's in front of my vehicle. If I start getting influenced by what's behind me, I let somebody who can't see what's in front of me drive my car.
Not advisable ("Sorry Officer, I had to drive over that pedestrian because the guy behind me needed to get somewhere fast").
When they finally explode out from behind me, I am sometimes surprised to see them, but it's just a natural phenomenon to me, like leaves blowing in the wind.
There's one born every minute, no need to acknowledge them.

Slow down gradually and that will encourage them to pass. But under no circumstances slam on your breaks. If someone is tailgating, it could cause them to rear end your car, and even though it would be their fault, you still have the hassle of getting your car fixed, even if they do have to pay for it. The hassle just isn't worth the satisfaction derived.

when someone tailgates you, maintain speed but turn on your emergency flashers on. if they still dont back off, than try to move over if possible or slow down to where they have to pass you. ive used my emergency flashers and it has worked most of the time

Set up a little switch on your console that turns on your brake lights without requiring you to step on your brake.

If someone tailgates, flip the switch.

I slow down.. that way they get angry enough to just go around me..... but sometimes when I see a bad driver.... and I mean a REALLY bad driver (and If I'm behind them) I would hold down my car horn until they are out of my sight.
