No, Personally I have friends of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. The people I admire in history are Einstein, Mother Teresa, Hatsheput and Boadicea. I think that they are rather diverse even though the all had some form of belief in God.gods or goddesses. I am sure some of the historical figures I admire were Atheists. I just can't think of any at the moment.

No, I am an atheist who admires Jimmy Carter greatly. If I only admired those who share all my opinions I would only admire myself.

I admire anyone who shows their different opinion with respect. Opinion is not something people should shovel into the other's throat. You share it and you handle the feed back with respect and tolerance.

Peace!

hmmmm had to really think about that one-

honestly i would have to say that i am open to many different opinions, and have great respect for those who don't share my opinions, and can admire them for many different reasons, not having to share my exact opinions -, but i would not admire the quality of close-mindedness in that person...

i have learned great lessons from those whom i do not share the same "beliefs" but whom i believe just have a different perspective on the One

Nope, I find it admirable if anybody can come up with an intelligent, well thought out answer, even if it is of a different opinion.

No. Everybody has their own opinions, you know.
I admire people that feel comfortable in sharing their opinions and won't shy away.

Of course not. For instance, I'm a Christian, but admire many Pagans, atheists, and other non-Christians, and have many of them as close friends. I have no problem respecting people whose opinions differ from mine philosophically, theologically, socially, and politicially.

nope. some people who have opinions that differ from mine are some of the people i admire most in the world. i do, however, have no respect for people who have opinions that are blatantly rude, untrue, stereotypical and voice them loudly. (homophobics, racists, etc.)

No, not an essential criteria, at all times! Must keep an open mind. The other person may, many times, be talking far more sensibly than me!
