It speaks about The "virgin" mary, jesus and some other religiousy stuff,
this is not meant to be offensive.
I am agnostic, so generally do not believe in god or jesus or any of that stuff, please do not try to convert me. I am just curious.
Also, if anybody has seen the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar", could they tell me their religious opinion. I hear that it is controversial because it claims that Judas went to heaven and that jesus told him to betray him.
Is this true?
DaVinci Code or Jesus Christ Superstar.
Opinions?

I actually don't know anything about saved christians or whatnot.
I wanted the term for the religion that encompasses all those others (like lutheran, protestant etc.)
and wasnt sure if it was christian or catholic.

I ask because I like to understand the way people think, and I always like to hear a wide range of opinions on every subject.

OK, I LOVED Angels & Demons. Da Vinci Code jus became a bestseller becos of all the hype. I personally found it crap. With A&D however, the suspense was just KILLING. I even stayed up for 2 consecutive nights towards the end of the book, just to know the end....Never done that before. Don't think it may happen again either...However many of the CERN facts ain't right. And many other sci. stuff too. CERN didn't creat the Net for starters... I've heard that Digital Fortress is great. Must read it in my summer holidays this time...

I have been a Christian for over 50 years. I enjoy good music and I love to read. After hearing the soundtrack for JCS, I watched the movie. I saw and heard many unbiblical events depicted in the movie, and I was not personally affected by them, but it was upsetting that many who were not Christians, or not strong in their faith may have gotten some serious mis-understandings from the movie as well as from of the song lyrics. On the other hand, it may have served as an invitation to some who were not Christians to investigate Christianity and, God willing, to come to know and love our Lord.
I read DVC, even the foreword, where Brown declares that his is work of fiction. Even if I had not read this, I would have known that the whole book was a fabrication, hanging by a few threads of truth. My concern is that most people do not read the foreword of the books they read, so they just jump right into a book, and if it has a smattering in there of something that they recognize as true, or think that they recognize as true, they buy the whole package. This concerns me deeply, as the book has no foundation whatever in truth. There are just enough true facts thrown in incidentally to give the appearance of truth.
About Judas: the Bible is not clear concerning his eternal destiny, but that should not matter to us. There are many things that we do not know, and that is as it should be. Our finite minds could not comprehend all of the mysteries of God, and the question of Judas' fate is one which we will have to wait until we get to Heaven to get the answer. And Jesus did not tell Judas to betray Him. God, who Jesus was, is, and ever will be, knows what is in the heart of every person, and knew that the heart of Judas was one of betrayal. What Jesus said to Judas was, "Go, and do what you must." Jesus knew what Judas had planned; He knew that the devil had control of Judas' heart; He knew that Judas was about to betray Him.
My personal feeling is that Jesus was saying to Judas that He understood, He forgave, and He wished for Judas to be able to accomplish what he had planned without having to agonize over his decision any longer. The decision had been made; Judas knew it was wrong, but he had committed himself to this act. We are all sinners, and we do the same thing. Our acts, while not exactly the same as his, have exactly the same effect--our sin price is exacted by the Blood of the Lamb.

I've never seen Jesus Christ Superstar but the Da Vinci Code is nothing more that fiction. The gospels that it got its facts from where rejected by the church because of how late they were written and the holes where actual words were missing and they made up stuff. It was just a good read and good movie nothing more.

the DaVinci Code is a book based on fictional events created by Dan Brown, who chose to leverage Jesus' familiarity in order to gain notoriety and book sales.
I haven't been to Heaven (yet), and I don't know who wrote it, but I can assume that Jesus Christ Superstar wasn't intended as an evangelical or Biblically-accurate message to teach people about God and His plan for salvation through His perfect sacrifice in the form of Jesus Christ, who is wholly God and wholly man.
Had "Code" and "Superstar" contained and centered on the following, then you probably would not have had to write your question --
Romans 10:9 says that "if you confess with your mouth 'Jesus is Lord' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, then you shall be saved"
That's all one has to do in Christianity -- believe. Contrary to popular belief, good works don't get it done. Ceremonies don't get it done. God is the authority on salvation, and He laid out a single, simple step to receive it...
My opinion is that anything that attempts to complicate or corrupt that simple message is invalid and not worth the time to read, watch, or listen.

DaVinci Code is work of fiction, and the author took great liberty to make things up. That is not correct about JC Superstar, the controversial part was pertraying Jesus as being unsure about the cross.
I'm curious, why do you ask?

They think both Da Vinci Code and Jesus Christ Superstar are blasphemous and inspired by Satan, even outright devil worship. The Da Vinci Code is, according to Dan Brown, "fiction based on fact," mostly the Templar Knights of the Middle Ages.
Myself, I am a former Christian (now a Witch). I have never seen Jesus Christ Superstar, but I saw the Da Vinci Code. I tried to read the book, but Dan Brown's writing style is remarkably dry, so I got bored with it. The movie was so-so. Too long and not too interesting. But my husband loves it, it's one of his favorites.

The Da Vinci Code is filled with lies and half truths about Christianity, the Catholic Church, and even Leonardo Da Vinci.
Many people are taking this fictional book and movie as fact and are using some of its very strange theories to attack Christianity and the Catholic Church.
Do a quick search in Yahoo Answers and you will see some of these attacks.

Catholicism is a demonination of Christianity (which is the term you were looking for). I never saw JC Superstar but da vinci code was 50% exaggerated, warped, skewed, and altered information and 50% made up.
