Actually, the primary addressing scheme used by the USPS increments addresses by four (4) and not by two.

So, if the Beast's house number is 666, then his neighbors would be 662 and 670. HOWEVER, if the Beast has a garage apartment with a separate address, THEN it would be an increment of two (2).

So, saying that you live at 668 means that you are living in the garage apartment on the lot behind the Beast's house.

Which does help explain how you smell the strange odor.
