A captain in the army that was also a doctor showed images sexually explicit images of me. (without my consent) I complained to his commanding officers adujcant and she assured me that the captain in question would be disciplined. I then discovered that his commanding officer did NOT reprimand on the grounds that it was a private matter and not an army one. BUT this happened when he was employed as a medic and on a army training exercise at the time ( he was not down the pub or in the barracks etc) I was not happy and complained to my MP about it. My question is, does anyone know if I can insist on an independent review etc? my MP said that she would look into it, but i would like to do some reasearch on my own. so any advice or knowledge would appreciated.

I did go to the civvy police, it did not quite fall under the voyerism act, nor did quite fall under the harrasment act, it just came close. so they logged it and had a word with him. he said that he has since deleted those images, and the police said that if it turns out he still has them or continues to show, then they can take further action.

he showed them on a training exercise to other army medics.

Mr sceptic, change your name to Mr ignorant, you cannot compare milkman and doctors. Doctors are bound my a code of ethics and practice

for example
A short snippet...
paragraphs 56-59
Probity means being honest and trustworthy, and acting with integrity: this is at the heart of medical professionalism.

You must make sure that your conduct at all times justifies your patients’ trust in you and the public’s trust in the profession.

You must inform the GMC without delay if, anywhere in the world, you have accepted a caution, been charged with or found guilty of a criminal offence, or if another professional body has made a finding against your registration as a result of fitness to practise procedures.

I dont think mikman have the same resonsibilty.

I was stupid, like it has said over and over again. HOWEVER it is not acceptable for someone to show sexually explicit images of a person witout thier consent WHILST THEY ARE ON DUTY.!!!!

I am annoyed that people read the first part and think " stupid girl" for posing she deserved it blah blah, and IGNORES my actual question that is complaing about the army, and that his guy was earning a fortune of the tax payers money to view porn - nice work if u can get it.
he was not down the pub with his mates, he was meant to be serving queen and country. I would like to know with exception of the adult entertainment industry, where else is it OK to look at porn on duty in work time??? 10 points to anyone that can answer that.

FOR the love of god, if you dont know about the army or its laws and just want to spout some ignorant judgemental opinion, then dont bother.

Mr sceptic are u not in the UK?

Doctors CAN get into trouble by things they do OUTSIDE of work, it must suck for them yes, but with status and high pay there are downfalls.

if u check the GMC website, docs have got into trouble for unsavoury things that happened in thier private lives. I can even recall him telling me a few stories about fellow doctor friends that got into trouble, and there are plenty of stories on the GMC website to view.

and yes WHILST HE WAS "WORKING "AS A DOCTOR IN HIS WORK TIME HE VIEWED IMAGES!!!!

DOCTORS HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED AND STUCK OFF IN THE UK FOR VIEWING PORN AT WORK.
IT IS NOT CONSIDERED ETHICAL BEHAVIOUR.

I Guess, i have nothing to lose by complaining . the gmc can decide, in anycase one day you may read about him in the papers :)

I really dont understand why some people are not grasping this. If i said that he admitted to watching gangang bitches whilst at work, would that make it worse than watching & showing me?

It seems as if the issue for *some* of the posters here is that i posed for them, instead of focusing on the FACT THAT HE VIEWED AND SHOWED PORN IN HIS WORKING HOURS.

*sighs* I still think im going to get a " u should not have posed" what he did in his private life his business type of reply.

This is a tough one.

Firstly can you prove that he did this? Hearsay of gossip does not count. You would have to get someone who saw the pictures of you to stand up in a court and convince a judge.

Secondly your character would be questioned as you let someone have and keep pornogaphic images of you, and as they would be the "evidence" in any trial they would have to be made available to the court (at least 25 people) to have a look at.

Thirdly if you start convicting soldiers for looking at Porn then you would close every army in the world overnight.

Lastly once you allowed him those images of you, you legally consented to make those his property and therfore he can pretty much do as he like with them, even though its a very ungentlemanly thing to do.

Sadly, this is where you learn that being stupid has consequences. When the photos were taken, unless you explicitly sorted out the copyright on them, I guess that the photographs' copyright belongs with the photographer.

In which case, he can do what he wants with them. Show them to his friends, post them on the internet, sell them to The Sun, anything. And, sadly, there is very little you can do about it.

Did he take these photos as part of his duties in the Army? If, not, then it's nothing to do with the Army.

If he'd been a milkman, would you have complained to the dairy?

EDIT: Doctors are indeed bound by a code of ethics and practice IN THEIR WORKING LIVES. Unless he took these pictures as part of his work, then this has nothing to do with his employer.

No - it is not acceptable for any employee to look at porn of any sort during their work time (unless it's part of their job - for example, vice squad detective investigating illegal DVDs - can I have 10 points? ). Can you show that this happened during working hours.

MORE EDIT: If you can show that while he was working as a doctor, during working hours, he viewed and shared these pictures, you have grounds for complaint to the GMC.

But think very carefully how you are going to come out of this. This exactly the sort of case the gutter press will love, and while it might damage your ex (if he's an Army doctor, his patients don't have much choice about who they see, and I doubt he'll be completely struck off) - think what the gutter press might decide, in public, about you.

Please believe me, I'm NOT saying that you are, but if they made you out to be some vindictive slapper, almost blackmailing one of our brave soldiers, have you the emotional and financial resources to deal with this, and possibly mount a legal challenge to this?

Perhaps it might be better to put this down to experience and learn from this episode. The person you trust today, might not be trustworthy tomorrow.

you should go over his commanding officers head, if you have a army recruitment office about go into it and ask them for a headquarters address, you should be able to get an address you can right to, his commanding officer should have dealt with this mater and in not doing so is only supporting his actions, you can make a civil matter of this which will open a big can of worms and upset the army but if it needs to be done then do it, if his commanding officer told you it was a private matter then maybe a complaint to the police will get it sorted, your ex had no right to do this and yes it may have been stupid to put yourself in this position but you trusted your ex and he broke your trust and he can get done for this, if you do not get any help from the army take out the civil action and get your justice that way, i hope you get over this and don't think every man is going to be this uncaring, best of luck honey i hope it all works out for you.

If I were you I would give up on this one and put it down to experience. As much as you complain, you have effectively consented to the photographs being taken therefore granting copyright to your ex.

You are quite right that you were stupid and naive so to do and you should have thought of the potential outcomes before consenting.

To attempt to destroy your ex partners career as retribution is both calculating and miss judged. The matter has been dealt with by the Police so I would suggest letting the matter be and learning from your mistake.

Now if they appear again, then that is another matter....

well sue him to civil court for showing your pictures without right to it.

As guys in army told you it is not an army matter, but as soon as you will get witnesses that will state that he did show the picture and than your ex will have to present copy of your consent form that you agreed for your picture to be shown or used in any other way than for his personal view only. Of course he does not have such consent what is breaking law.
It is the same as you were model and someone would use your pictures without paying you for it or against your will.
I think you should seek advice from lawyer and sue the guy, of course you can do it only if you have evidence or witnesses who will testify in court against the guy.
You should take in to matter that if he showed it only to soldiers, probably no soldier will testify against him so unless you have evidence there is no much you can do.

PS: I do not think it was in any way stupid to let him take your pictures when you were together.
Even I take it in to consideration that each girl can use mine pictures.

good luck and don't worry you can always become model for Playboy ;) after all you already got some fans;)

1. Who did he show them to and how do you know he actually showed them to someone?

2. It is a private matter between two consenting adults i.e. you and him.

3. You let him take the images, so therefore you are consenting to letting him do with them what he wants unless he actually signed something to say he wouldn't show them to someone, then he can show them to who ever he wants.

4. What has this actually got to do with the army?

5. Stop wasting army time, time they would much rather spend supporting those soldiers deployed on OPs or writing to their family, wives, girlfriend and children who they most probably only seen for about 2 months out of 12............in the mean time they are diving for cover or digging a hole with something to avoid the incoming bullets.

6. Have you realised that it is the army that are fighting in numerous operational theatres throughout the world most fiercely in Afghanistan, battling and killing the enemy who wants to end your way of life and religion. Also Bare a thought for those soldiers who are dying or watching some of their best friends or comrades dying on the battle field ( one of my friends died in Afghanistan and one lost both his legs) for your freedom to enjoy life and take pictures etc have a thought for how they are actually actually feeling, when all that is wrong with you is the fact that, ITS YOUR PRIDE THAT IS REALLY HURT.

Girl, i think you need to get over it!! your efforts to have him punished have obviously fallen flat as there is clearly insufficient evidence with which to warrant an investigation. yes it is dispicable to show private pictures to anyone that they don't concern, but come on it ain't the end of the world, so a few people have seen you in a different 'light', so what its only skin!!!
now seriously before you start making yourself ill, or worse twisted, just let it go, move on and enjoy your life. you can obviously do A LOT better.

You have to make an initial complaint to the Commanding officer of the unit concerned in this. If you feel that he has not investigated your complaint thoughorly, then you can contact your MP and request that he puts the matter to the Minister for Defence. You have to inform the commanding Officer of the unit of your intention to do this.

After reading all your comments you still come across as a bitter and twisted sad cow.... yes he was wrong to have kept the pictures but he is not the first or last person to show pictures of their exes, apart from the embarrassment of this occurring has it had any lasting effect on you and does it make him a worse doctor for having done it. i think not,, get on with your life...stop trying to ruin someone Else's... over an ended relationship....

I will resist being insensitive. I have so many lined up. Are you in the service, I couldn't tell. "A captain in the army that was also a doctor showed images sexually explicit images of me. " Doesn't really make sense. Did he show them to you, to other bad toothed blokes? You should not be harassed or exposed but your question was lacking key things.
Good luck
