Proverbs 1

A wise man will hear and increase in learning,
And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,
To understand a proverb and a figure,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge;
Fools despise wisdom and instruction.

There you go making up stuff again. Do you realize you are sinning by telling such lies? I doubt you even know what the term means.

As an atheists I set very high standard for intellectual honesty. I use reality and logic for the basis of this honesty not mythology or blind faith or some 2000 year old piece of fiction.

How in the heck is "fear of the lord" the beginning of knowledge? One of the most insidious problems with monotheisms, and Christianity in particular, is the idea that knowledge can only come from bible or somehow be "revealed" without corresponding evidence. This is an unfortunate perversion of what it means "to know".
It's learning that can lead us away from fear. But you'll have to face a "hard time with intellectual honesty" to come to a rational understanding of your religion, your world, and yourself.

How is saying "anyone who won't obey is a fool" intellectually honest?

Why do Christians have such a hard time being remotely respectful?

Um, atheists aren't the ones who have a problem with intellectual honesty. We don't have to deny facts or disregard reality in order to maintain a belief in that which is unbelievable and the opposite of intellectual.

The religious hypocrites set high expectations on everybody, as faras morality goes but when they screw up they always say they're sorry,or the devil made them do it, or they will attack non-believers for being bad influences.

God, No God everybody knows wrong from right. I get lied to and cheated by more born again Christians than Atheists and when an atheiest does screw me over he or she doesn't hide behind God

That's not intellectual honesty, and I doubt you'd recognize it if it smacked you in the face.
That is a list of platitudes and they have NOTHING to do with honesty.
And for someone who bases his beliefs on a series of re-written myths and fairy tales to accuse someone else of being dishonest, is without a doubt, the best example of irony I've read in a LONG time.

could you clarify what you mean, do you mean that atheists dislike intellectual dishonesty. the fact that you might be trying to say that atheists are intellectually dishonest can only be inferred by you tacking on that meaningless, self justifying homily on the end.

Well then...according to that logic...all Christians must be as smart as Einstein...since fearing God is the beginnings of knowledge... -_- We're more than likely all t hat...except with fearing God...I thought God was supposed to be loved...not feared...that's wisdom for ya...ugh....

It's not easy "dumbing down" your words so that Christians can understand them!

It's not intellectual dishonesty...it's being polite!
