I made some cookie dough out of a kids cookbook (with my daughter). It only had 2 sticks of butter, 2 1/2 cups of flour, and one egg yolk. I may have used too much flour, so I compensated by adding another egg yolk (the recipe called for a large egg yolk so I used 2 small).

Anyway, the dough has been in the fridge for one day and it is very, very crumbly. What can I add to make it more elastic or moist for cookie cutter cookies?

If you're trying to cut out the cookies, you don't want it moist - it'll stick to your lightly floured board and cutters and rolling pin.

Didn't your recipe call for any sugar? I'd probably add sugar at this point to get it to a consistency to roll out. I hope you also put in some baking powder or soda so the cookies will rise some.

Good luck. It's nice you're trying to bake with your daughter.

I don't think that there is much you can do at this point, except throw it out. Also, those cookies are gonna taste pretty gross without any sugar!

If that's all you put in there, they are going to taste awful. Cookies without sugar aren't really cookies at all, I say.

pat it into a pie plate bake. add pie filling of choice and return to over. Start over with cookies and better luck next time.
