I'm 15 to and i got my braces 6 months ago.The braces will feel weird at first for like three weeks. You will feel like weird things in your mouth that you will want to remove but you can't. The brackets will hurt your inside skin but make sure that you ask for the gum thing to put on the brackets so they won't hurt your inside skin.
Just try your best to eat good like if you didn't have anyhting. It's gonna be hard to get used to it but finally you will in about 3 weeks.
Don't worry. You will get used to them. It's gonna worth it. You will not feel anything when you get your braces on. Trust me

u son had to get braces at the age of 9 (in addition to a pa latte expander, a rotten device that pulls apart the bones of the roof of the mouth to enlarge the mouth for the adult teeth to come in in a smaller person). he didn't mind the braces at all. He was a trumpet player and the orthodontist gave him some gummy stuff to put over the braces so his instrument mouthpiece wouldn't cause the braces to cut the insides of his lip. He never used it. What bothered him was the mold they made of his mouth before the braces were pout on, mostly because they were goopy and disgusting tasting. But all in all, the molding lasted less than 5 minutes and the braces weren't a big deal. In fact they were pretty cool. he got the elastics around them changed monthly and made them suitable to the season! In October, Orange and black and once glow in the dark, in December Green and Red. He didn't mind the braces and has gone from a monster mouth to a wonderful straight smile.
Good luck. Look on this as something positive, because it is! You will do great, so stop worrying.

It really doesn't feel that weird after you get used to them, I had them from when I was 12-15. They just fill like something bumpy on your front of your teeth.
Your teeth might be somewhat sore for about a day... usually they go easy the first time you get them though.
Every time they tighten the wire (which moves the teeth, usually this is done once a month) and it's sore again for a day until your mouth adjusts.
It's hard to eat hard things while your teeth hurt for the day so I usually stuck to soup or yogurt or I cut up my foot into small pieces so I wouldn't have to chew it... something easy to eat.
Each small metal piece (like a gem) is glued onto each tooth, and there is a bracket that go on the very back teeth (they fit it on there - think of it like a ring around your tooth)... they put the wire through these metal brackets and tread them through the other little gems. The wires are then secured by on by little rubber band type things that they strap around the gems, you can choose the color.
The metal brackets on the back molars are very easy to come out, so trust me and avoid anything sticky like caramel... usually if they fall out you'll have to take them to the dentist and have them reapplied.

the doctors cement little "braces" on your teeth. they have a groove where a wire is placed and is pushed through holders on your back teeth. they cut the wire so it's tight enough to slowly move teeth. then they put little rubber bands to hold the wire on the rest of the braces. sometimes they'll put a "chain" across the front teeth, not positive on what that does, but i guess it works lol.
they do feel weird cuz you have little pieces of metal in your mouth, but you get used to it. if you play a sport, get a mouthguard cuz it hurts if you get hit. if you play a brass instrument, your range is also affected but it will come back.
make sure you try your best to clean your braces out after you eat- chewed up food does not look good. you don't have to brush after lunch, but at least check a mirror or something. when the braces come off, WEAR THE RETAINER!!! your teeth will move back and it hurts if you try putting the retainer on after a long time

Why didn't you ask a friend?
They glue them to your teeth. Yes, they feel weird, and until your lip area toughens up a bit, the braces will probably cut your lips a little. The main pain comes from the wire they attach to the braces, which makes your teeth a bit sore as they move. That only lasts a couple of days, though. Remember to brush or your teeth will stain.

Yes they do feel weird a first. They glue on these little metal brackets onto your teeth. Then, they put on wires that go through the brackets. I've had braces before, and I really had a bad toothache for the first four weeks or so. I really dreaded them. Ever so often you go in for regular checkups to put on a thicker wire or rearrange the brackets. My mom works for a dentist, so I know this stuff anyway!

They feel weird at first but you will get use to them. It took me about a week to get used to them and at first there is a little pain. They put my braces on with a special glue or cement mixture and then they shined that blue light thing on them. Then they slide in the wires and close the doors of the brackets. The doors, in case you did not know, are what keep the wire held in place.

They do feel a bit odd at first, but not too strange. It will hurt for the first few days, so be sure to take some Advil or Motrin before you go. You may want to carry some numbing agent with you (Orajel, etc.) They put some special glue on the bracket (the metal piece) and stick it on your teeth, then they put a kind of black light to it to set the glue. Then they put a wire on the bracket to connect it, and generally you will get your choice of color for the bands on top of the wire.

They will feel wierd for a bit, but you will get used to them in time. Be prepared for your mouth to be sore for about a week afterwards. Not hurting, but not able to eat hard food for a bit.
They will attach metal band to the back teeth, then brackets to the front teeth, the run wires to all of them.
If possible, go get your teeth cleaned before you get them on, then make sure to always brush your teeth well..
