I mean.. I've been eating a lot of raw red cabbage and .... phew... man! I tell you a draught horse has got nothin' on me. I can blow out a candle from 20 metres... and that's dangerous!

So .. how can you prepare cabbage without the obvious side affects?

(I've grown about 20 of them in the front yard ~ so it's time to get a variety of recipes from all you lovely experts!)

Being a former chef and loving any kind of cabbage, I do it in the german style with apples, vinegar, caraway, brown sugar, onions and stew it for 2 hours until it has melted down to a sweet mush.

I first chop it in to small cubes, saute the onion and apple in oil, add the caraway and brown sugar caramelize it add the vinegar, then some stock and the cabbage, stir it a few times them put the lid on and drop the heat to low and let it go, checking it to make sure it is not sticking, in the end I remove the lid let the liquid boil down to almost nothing then add my salt and pepper, even a bit of extra caraway and a touch of tabasco for zing.

The problem is not the red cabbage but your ****!! The other guests had no bottom end problems as far as I know. Get some gaviscon before consuming the red cabbage. Next time take your time to chew your food Icy.

Good source of calcium, a special type of rhodium, some protein, B-6, and A3. It's kind of like the Princess and the Pea, if your thoughts aren't perfect it will show up in the quality of your red cabbage

I think mine will be edible by the time I'm 40 (7 more years)

boil, saute, use in cole slaw.

great recipe for cole slaw. shred red, green, and white cabbage, with shredded carrots. then make the dressing. doesn't matter how much, mayonnaise but flavor to tast with regular vinegar and sugar, then toss into cabbage.

sorry no amounts/volumes but momma just taught me how to make through tasting it.

Pan fried in butter with salt and pepper...mmmmmmmmmm You could also donate your extras to a homeless shelter (that's what I do when Ma Nature rewards my green thumb with way too much from the garden...)

You could always make cole slaw. I think you can freeze it raw. That way you can at least limit the side affects.
