Big dogs are great, but not more social than little dogs. How a dog is with people is 95% dependent on the strength of leadership of their owner, not about breed or size. You should pick a dog that fits in best with your lifestyle. How much room do you have for a dog? How much time can you spend exercising it? If you live in an apartment, and are a couch potato, then you need a little dog with a calm lazy disposition. But if you like jogging, then you might want a small terrier or some dog with more zip and pep. If you live on a farm or have a large fenced yard, then a large dog could be a consideration. But pick the dog based on your personal circumstances, not some idea of what size makes a good pet, or even what gender. There are hyper large dogs (check out a chocolate lab if you want to see an example) and there are calm lazy smaller dogs. My long hair chihuahua couldn't be bothered to get off his bed most of the day. If you have the time to spend grooming, I suggest a sheltie (shetland sheepdog). Beautiful, very intelligent, very loyal... looks just like Lassie but little. They are athletic, but also enjoy lounging. But there are great dogs of all breeds really. I had a pug when I was a kid.. best dog ever.

To be honest you can't just say which dog is bigger. It all depends in your lifestyle, energy level, and just all around you. If you're not an outdoor person and have a busy life. I think that a small dog would be great for you. They require less walks, some can be trained to use a litter box. Depending on the breed might be dominant or passive. If you have an apartment or a small house. A small dog is a great choice for you.

But, if you have a pretty much chill lifestyle and go on walks all the time, have a big house then a big dog might be good for your lifestyle. Depending on the breed and how it would compare to your lifestyle. You have to make the choice.
Personally a small dog is great for me.

I think a small dog is easier to take places and can control better. You can pick it up if needed. I have a Labrador Retriever whom I love. She is big & is hard to control when going for a walk. Small dogs are much easier to control. They both require same kind of care however big dogs eat more and their poop is disgusting. A big dog is a good guard dog. A burglar wouldn't fear a small one too much. But if I had a choice I'd pick a small one. They are easier to care for. It all depends on your needs.

I think you are just hearing stereotypes about dogs. Instead of going on what other people say, you could actaully go to a shelter and interact with some of the dogs. Think about what you'll be able to provide the dog with. Big dogs need to be walked more than smaller ones, but often toy breeds need grooming. I think if you are looking for a more social animal, any kind of dog will work, just go with your gut. Also, think about people who say small dogs are easier to care for. They probably haven't owned dogs at both ends of the spectrum, so how could they know?

It depends on the dog and...YOU! Size really shouldn't matter in selecting a dog, unless your apartment complex has weight limits (or if you don't mind scooping up big poop rather than small). Your first step should be in selecting a breed that's right for you - temperment doesn't rely on size, and neither does easiness. Then figure out if the breed is right for you. Are you lazy? Get a low energy dog, like a Bulldog. Are you very active (run a lot)? Get a high energy dog, like a Siberian Husky. These are the two main starting points. Figure out what you like/want, then make sure you're going to be right for them.

You should choose a dog that fits your lifestyle. It would be horrible to have a big dog if you live in an apartment, for example, because big dogs need places to run and they would not do well in that environment. By the way, there are many small breeds that are very social, such as pug. Pugs love to be by people, like literally right next to them, all the time.

There are some dogs that tend to not like more than one person. In my experience, I have older relatives (with not as much coming and going) that all have the little dog that is an animal straight from "hades". Dog behavior has a lot to do with the earliest experiences of the animal. Dogs without exposures to different people (and other animals) are not "socialized" and therefore are not usually friendly or as friendly as those that are socialized. Primarily, the smaller dogs are easier to care for, as far as space needed to raise them. As far as ease of care, bigger dogs need more room, have bigger droppings, eat bigger amounts of food, need bigger tubs and so on; Large or small, the amount of care and responsibility is still about the same. Pick a breed according to its typical traits, match it to your behavior and the amount of your life you are willing to share.

It depends on your taste, and how well you take care of the dog. Smaller dogs ARE easier to take care of, but they can be mean if you're mean to them. If you treat them well, and show a lot of love to them, they will be as social as a large dog. A large dog generally needs a lot of attention and a lot of time. Do you want a dog to exercise with? Or a lap dog? A family dog? Large dogs make good family dogs, while small dogs are good for a single person. They just sit on your lap and by your feet as you watch TV.

well it depends, if you want a dog inside the house, then a small dog would be the way to go. Big dogs are not more social than small dogs I would say, size doesnt really determine their personality. You could get a corgi, best of both worlds, corgis are not too small, but not too big either.

ask yourself what kind of dog do you want. little dogs are hard to potty train. And big dogs are wonderful if you have a firm hand, not a mean hand but a firm hand. Ask people you meet on the street how and why they love their dog. look at as many dog books you can. keep in mind that owning a dog is privlage not a right. and if you own something alive you should know as much about it as you can. study, study study about dogs then you will know what kind of dog is right for you! take your time and when the perfect dog comes along you will be so happy.
