A man can "fight" anything he chooses. Should he? Hell no.

Sure, it has happened several times in history. The down side is that the man almost always looses. Of course, if the Grizzly is fighting a well armed man, the Grizzly often looses.

It has on very rare occasions happened that a man with a knife won a fight with a grizzly bear, but the generally were severely injured.
Hugh Glass, the Mountain Man/Trapper, tangled with a she-grizzly and survived, barely. He was in such bad shape his companions left him for dead. To their misfortune, he survived, and walked nearly 200 miles to a trading post, and later went hunting his former companions.
In general, if it came down to a fight to the finish between a grizzly, and a man with bare hands, or even a knife, I'd make my bets on the bear.

Can a man fight a Grizzly bear? Sure, but shouldn't you be asking: Can a man win a fight against a Grizzly bear?
If you mean can a man win a fight against a 600+ lb. healthy Grizzly bear, bare-handed mano-a-mano??? Not a chance.
Can the same man armed with a knife win a fight against the same bear? Well, let's see...
Man: 1 edged weapon (to-wit: His knife)
Bear: 20+ edged weapons (clawed feet & paws n countless teeth). You tell me. LOL!

A ol boy named Hough Glass wrestled one, and lived to tell the tale.. he crawled across Part of Wyo, determined to get revenge on the men who left him to die after he fought the grizz.
Jim Bridger mentions the episode in a cupple writeing he did back then.
No doubt others have fought with grizzlys too..
It's prudent to give them plenty of clearane, tho.
Hough Glass later recomended to a emmigrant that the grizzly bears encountered be afforded more respect than any Souix warrior one might meet.. " a injun thats shot, usualy dies." he said.."but a grizz just gets madder-n hell."
Hard to say what a grizzly in a wresteling match would do with an iddiot dum enough to pick a fight with it..

here we go, my buddy knows a guy in Louisiana they call Bear...
His face has some good scars to it. Well apparently a bear crawled up in his tree stand and he informed the bear that this was his tree stand and he needed to go somewhere else. Well the bear didn't take to kindly to this bit of advice. When he got ornery the man pulled out a large knife and they traded blows. The bear left the man alone... But they never found the bear so they don't think he killed it. But they fought, and the man won!

Of course, men can fight anything. As to whether or not he can fight and win; that is a different question. Having seen a grizzly fairly close I would prefer to be in an armored car and have a Ma Duece ready if I had to fight one; but that is just my individual preference; go at it bare handed if you want to.

No, an unarmed man can not damage a grizzlybear!
Whatchya' gonna do? Throw a punch it won't even fell into it's side? A halfhearted paw swipe from a grizzly bear can kill a man, they can also bite your head in! (happened not to long ago!)
I don't think it'd be a good idea!

A man could, but depending upon how he "fights" the bear, that will dictate who wins.
If the man has anything short of a rifle in a caliber suited for bear, I will bet my money on the bear
