EAGLES ARE NOT SCAVENGERS!!!! i live in the country and i have seen eagles swoop up live fish, rabbits, chickens, and i once saw one snap up a sparrow in mid air! but if they are scavengers how come they ride the current in the air and circle a moving animal. only vultures are scavengers!!!!! they live in the dessert and stuff like that. but hawks, bald eagles, golden eagles, and so forth eat animals they catch live and they do eat birds to!!!!!!!!

Depending what eagle you are talking about. The bald eagle eats mainly fish. I just read where the golden eagle will eat anything like birds, mice, fox, even young deer. I hope this helps.
Here is a couple of links to look up about eagles.

No joke i have seen a big eagle pick a baby kangaroo up while it was hopping around and it flew up high and dropped it and then flew away with its dead body.

I live in the country sometimes on my property and we have many families of eagles.

And yes dead birds lol

Yes! This summer I was @ my summer home in Alaska... I was eating chicken nuggets by the lake and this eagle killed and ate a seagull. I thought it was sad and wierd because usually @ the river seagulls and eagles fly around together. That same day I saw a seagull kill and eat a baby duck.

Both Bald Eagles and Golden Eagles, the two most common eagles in the US, will eat birds.

"A Bald Eagle’s diet consists mainly of fish, sometimes making up to 90% of it's diet. When a Bald Eagle is not fishing, it will feed on almost anything it can catch, including ducks, wading birds, turtles, rodents, snakes, and carrion (dead animal matter)."
http://www.indiana.edu/~bradwood/eagles/eat.htm

"The diet of golden eagles is composed primarily of small mammals such as rabbits, hares, ground squirrels, prairie dogs, and marmots. They also eat birds, reptiles and fish in smaller numbers. Golden eagles occasionally capture large prey, including seals (Phocoidea), ungulates, coyotes and badgers. They have also been known to capture large flying birds such as geese or cranes. A pair of eagles will often hunt together; one chases the prey to exhaustion, and the other swoops down for the kill. Golden eagles rarely cache prey for later consumption."

However, eagles are also scavangers, when other food is not available.
"Unfortunately, bald and golden eagles and other scavengers are being poisoned when they consume improperly disposed of poisoned domestic animal carcasses that contain pentobarbital residue." http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/information/Aquila_chrysaetos.html

I have seen first-hand, dozens of Bald Eagles, along with Ravens, feasting on roadkill deer carcasses that are brought to a landfill in a northern Minnesota town for the express purpose of providing food for these wintering birds, so I know that they will scavange when necessary..

Ah! This is the same Rebecca who said she stupidly tried to spay her own cat and now it is dying of an infection? I highly doubt you are licensed to raise and breed birds of prey. If you take care of your birds like you ADMIT to taking care of your cat, we will be losing a lot of bald eagles.

eagles have excellent eye sight.they spot moving prey, swoop down to catch & carry away the live prey to the safety of a high spot, there to enjoy the well earned meal.
