i hate them. When i was 11 i was hit by a car. Their wrote down that i ran into the middle of the road. WTF i was on the side waiting to cross. I didnt even see the car , ilooked back and foruth 3 times. I took a step turned my head to look one way then i turned to look the other way . My eye caught a glimpse of the red car literally 5 inches away. As i was rushed to the hospital the jackass who hit me told the police aka her friend for real and im not just assuming. that i ran into the middle of the road. Never again will i trust them.

I had never really given it much thought. I guess not all of them are the same. Same as any other job. Some do it to help while others it is just for the money or the excitment that comes with the job. Don't judge them by that one incident. Whatever job you have I bet you would take the side of your friend rather than an 11 year old girl, just like most people would. Most police are honest and there to help. I have heard that some do a few illegal things but that is the same with any job. How many people steal things from their work? Some TV shows make the police look bad just so they can have a good story line. Like Home and Away at the moment. Or The Simpsons make them look lazy and stupid. But these are just TV shows. I have actually never seen a fat policeman or woman here (Australia). They risk their lives to help others so I think they should be respected! I bet if you needed them again it would be different (I hope you don't need them again though). If someone is breaking into your house you would still call them, wouldn't you? There is no one else to call for help... forgive and forget!

The Police are here to Protect and Serve their Community.
Yes, there are Rogue Police Officer as their are Rouge Lawyers, Doctors, Nurses, etc.
You had best trust the Police, ergo, you never know when you might need them to protect you from someone intent to do you serious harm.

Well, that's an emotional reaction coming from a tender place and what you need to realize is that although police aren't perfect (who is)? There are laws and codes of conduct to keep them in line too. Nobody likes authority, but it's necessary in today's less than perfect world to have protectors from bad guys. I mean, come on, these people put their lives on the line every day for us to have a safer community, and that doesn't gain them any popularity points. At least realize that they need to be here.

One incident that happened to you when you were a child, and you'll never trust them again?
Wow, your view of the world is small and dismal.
Good luck in life!
**EDIT**
If the car had been going "way over the speed limit" you would not have survived the "splattering" your body would have done on the car's windshield.

it was quiet obvious that you are either bling or not paying attention when you steppedout. it was clearly your fault.if you had looked that many time you would have seen the car so it shows that you are lying about what happened.red is a color very easily seen.the police did nothing wrong at all. if anything it was you with your head up your rear and not paying attention.

Newsflash, pedestrians only have the right of way if they're in a crosswalk. But sure one instance of a bad experience, legitimate or not, is a reason to hate someone. All white people are honkys, all black people steal and eat fried chicken, all mexicans are illegal, all asians are arrogant, and everyone on Yahoo Answers who posts stupid stuff about the Police deserves to die. Oh wait, the last one is true.

Interesting, I'm a police officer, my speciality is traffic investigation, meaning I investigate car accidents. And to me, based on my training and experience, you ARE at fault for this collision.
21950. (b) This section does not relieve a pedestrian from the duty of using due care for his or her safety. No pedestrian may suddenly leave a curb or other place of safety and walk or run into the path of a vehicle that is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard. No pedestrian may unnecessarily stop or delay traffic while in a
marked or unmarked crosswalk.
You left your place of safety and walked into the path of a vehicle that was so close as to constitute an immediate hazard. If it was literally 5 inches away, you should've seen it coming earlier. Your neglience, your fault. Thanks.

sounds to me like you weren't paying attention and ran out in the road and got hit by a car. You were at fault for either running out in the road, or starting into the roadway. Either way, you are still at fault.
