Why are religions so fear-based?

There's like a version of hell for almost every single religion:

1st part-Religion is spirit-based and believe that the spirit lives on even after the body is gone. So religion is about preparing your soul for the afterlife.

2nd part-My guess about the fear is......we are all afraid of the unknown. We don't know anything about the afterlife by fact. We only know by faith~which is where religion comes in.

Just for the record~I am a Christian.

Well I personally know that there are plenty of faiths out there that do not engage in Dogma or have a Hell.

I accept that there are non-Abrahambic / Monotheistic faiths with a Hell-like element in their spirituality but it is by no means exclusive.

In fact, I personally want to be there when the Kama catches up with some Zealot's Dogma.

Actually only large portions Christianity and Islam have the

"believe in my religion or you will suffer for eternity" concept

Other religions have concepts of hell, but most are not eternal and being a non-believer of said religion is not typically a qualification to go.

Because there would be no point in a heaven if there were no opposite form of it. If there were no Hell, heaven would lose it's meaning and become just mandatory afterlife.

From a meme theory perspective, the most successful religions would be those that adopt any technique that generates more believers - which includes fear tactics.

Christianity is not a religion, it is a life style and a personal relationship with God. No one offers Savior for our salvation. Everyone else ask you to pay for it one way or another.
