He is also taking amoxcicillin. He only has to take it for 3 days. How long after he stops taking it will the increased thirst and frequent urination continue?

Prednisone, is a corticosteroid and as such does cause frequent urination. This is an incredibly common side effect of prednisone. At least part of the mechanism behind this is that it raises the blood sugar level to a point where the kidneys can't reabsorb all the glucose- glucose going into the urine draws water with it, making the animal urinate more. Of course, they then have to drink more to compensate. (This is the same reason that diabetic animals have increased thirst and urination. Just to a lesser extent).

I'm not clear from your question details whether it is the prednisone or amoxicillin that he is taking for three days. Your vet should have put him on a tapering dose of pred- i.e. gradually reducing it over a few days. The duration of side effects can be a little bit variable, but shouldn't last for more than a week or two after the drug is completely withdrawn.

The Y!Abut gave a good link with good information. However, she was wrong about the milk fact. If a vet told her to give her pet MILK, they are not a good vet.

Dogs do not have the proper enzymes to properly break down the sugar in milk which is called 'lactose.' You may have heard of people who are lactose-intolerant. They are also missing these digestive enzymes. If the proper enzymes are not present, the lactose remains undigested and tends to ferment in the intestine and cause diarrhea. Some pets can tolerate a little milk, others, none at all.

For about a week until it leaves his system. Did your Vet tell you to feed him MILK...Prednisone is a steroid treatment that robs the body of calcium. If you don't want your dog to develop osteoporosis he should have at least 8 oz of milk a day to counteract the prednisone's effect on calcium depletion. It is the prednisone that is casuing the frequent urination as well as the thirst. Here is a link that tells you all about it and what its uses are.
EDIT: Silkysmooth you are right. I keep forgetting that dogs are not human (even though they act like it much of the time) calcium supplements, that is what I should have written. YES DO NOT GIVE your dog milk, SS is TOTALLY on the button there. THUMBS UP GIRL!!

Prednisone is a steroid, and yes, it can cause frequent urination. He is probably drinking more water too. He has natural instincts, and drinking more water can help his body flust out the toxins from the snake bite.

Your canines could be wonderful in a pair of days. The swelling is established in a rattlesnake chew. The photos the vet gave your canines will guard the venom and the pills will help with the swelling. only save an eye fixed on the canines to confirm the swelling isn't affecting his respiratory. in case you notice that take the canines returned to the vet right this moment.

Tell your doctor immediately if any of these unlikely but serious side effects occur: black stools, bone pain (fracture), "coffee-ground" vomit, easy bruising/bleeding, heartburn, increased thirst and urination, irregular/fast/pounding heartbeat, menstrual period changes, mental/mood changes, muscle weakness/pain, persistent weight gain, puffy face, seizures, signs of infection (e.g., fever, persistent sore throat), slow-healing wounds, stomach/abdominal pain, swelling of the feet/ankles, thinning skin, trouble breathing, unusual hair growth, unusual skin growths, vision changes.
A serious allergic reaction to this drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
