We provide countries with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN AID but what happens to all this food and money that we keep pouring into their country?

It gets stolen by the “Leaders” of the country…

I feel REALLY dirty quoting the bible but Jesus got it right…

“Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, TEACH a man to fish and he will eat for a life time.”

By pouring money and bibles into a country that is currently incapable of helping it self we are merely putting a band aid over a gun shot wound…

We do just enough to make sure that our inner child doesn’t cry and then we lose interest and wander off to the next “Cause”.

Now, if we actually started to supply meaningful agricultural and cultural changes…

TEACHING them how to farm in their area…
TEACHING them techniques of how to use canals and wells to keep their crops alive…
TEACHING them animal husbandry…

In combination with…

PROVIDING THEM with technology to help them farm…
PROVIDING THEM with seed modified to survive in their arid climates…
PROVIDING THEM with better breeds of animals that are more hardy for their climate…

WE NEED TO BOTH TEACH THEM HOW TO USE THE TOOLS WE CAN PROVIDE AND PROVIDE THEM WITH TOOLS AND NOT JUST FOOD!!

Then we will be able to see a change…

Throwing money at a problem will NEVER solve the problem…

Top all of that off with Fat Americans and Hippy Californians telling the world that the Golden Rice and Edible Seed Cotton are “Franken Foods” that will KILL YOU and we are causing the deaths of millions because we have the option of picking and choosing what we eat and don’t think of the consequences of denying starving people the ability to feed their children and stay alive…

It is sad that the overfed can dictate what the starving can and can not eat… can and can not farm…

Protesting GM foods without actually having ANY actual scientific facts about GM Foods…

Relying ONLY on the propaganda of political organizations in the guise of environmentalist groups…

It is VERY sad…

Theyre country id too poor to afford proper housing, crops or anything like we have in america, peolpe here should be greatful for what they have, an average family in africa makes about 215 dollars yearly we can make that in a week but yet people still complain they dont make enough you see people in America are gettin so lazy to the point where they expect to get paid 20$ and hour with only a high school GED, so when they get all pissed and want more money ttheyre company gets pissed and move to different countries where people will work for a penny a day peolpe in all these other countries are happy with what they got as long as they have something to show for all theyre hard work and as long as they have each other

The quick answer is that the world has almost limitless wants, needs and desires and the worlds resources are limited. And the worlds resources are not evenly distributed over the world.

One way to look at this is that the trait of altrusim(except for relatives) seems to be a characterist that Unfortunately makes a person less likely to reproduce by voluntarily reducing the amount of resources you consume. On the other hand philosopher Ayn Rand criticises altruism by stating, "there is no rational ground for asserting that sacrificing yourself in order to serve others is morally superior to pursuing your own (long-term, rational) self-interest. "

At an different level, Many types governments and economies have tried to address this situation with different levels of success. Communism/Socialism try to distribute limited resouces by using a purportedly benevolent leader or centralized leadership beauracracy. The espoused method of distributing limited resources in these governments is often given as "Each recieves according to his needs, Each produces according to his ability. Unfortunately, over time, the leadership's personal needs and wants eventually corrupts the system and some people get to have more and some less in a seemingly arbritrary distribution system. And unfortunately, while seemlingly fair this system goes against human nature.

American style Democracy and Capitalism purports to distribute wealth more fairly. With American Capitalism, Individuals of age make almost all of their own life choices. Competition determines the winners of wealth and power and charity provides a safety net for those cannot produce for themselves or are the losers in this economic competition.
While in its true and pure form, American Capitalism more closes matches human nature by encourage citizens to work harder if they want more of the limited resources. Unfortunately, the rich and powerful have the ability to tilt the game of life in their favor my fair and unfair methogs.

Perahaps the easiest way to sum this up is that the people with the least access to the worlds limited resources is that they lack the power or wealth to possess more of the worlds limited resources.

I hope you can maintain your youthful enthusiastic altruistic attitude for the rest of your life.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck

I think the answer is Lack of Knowledge & perhaps bad farming soil, as well as no money flow. Even without having a lot of money, though, just learning how, would make a big difference. They need to be educated, & also helped, to get it all going well. This is where America could do a lot of good. I know, that they need immediate help, but I also think that they need to be educated & assisted into being able to make it, on their own.

Every nation, neighborhood, family, and individual has their own challenges and struggles. It's the choices we make, both as individuals and as a nation, that creates our today. Unfortunately for the so-called Third World, they are living in an incredibly destitute existence. But we have people, many people, in our own nation that live a similar life of poverty and strife. But until we align our motivations with our so-called goals, we will never be able to truly change the conditions of the rest of the world. It takes us working one at a time...eventually, things change...as they always do.

The U.S. military is working on 3 projects. One of those is bringing food to Africa (Somalia and bordering areas). There are no places to land a plane, so they have to drop the food out of the planes. Rulers of these areas are taking the food for themselves, and are not distributing it to their people. Part of the problem is that there are no paved roads to transport the food.

Have you ever seen those commercials saying that you can foster a child in these areas by sending monthly donations? The money you send only partially goes to getting them food. Most of the money is used for transporting it.

because these countries dont have good leaders
they lack a government that actually cares
about the people And use the countries money unwisely
they have no authority and they are poor countries
with no schools or education this makes the people
have to work harder for food.

Congratulations, you see the need, now do something!
Mostly these situations exist because of injustice & greed.
Those in control are more interested in keeping their power.
So they spend money on military arms to suppress riots.
You can make a difference through World Vision & such.
Usually they just need small amount to deliver food & water.
