The light flashes when in 4X2 and I think it might be the switch, I just have to find it.

The switch that activates the light is on the shift motor on the right front axle. The reason it is flashing is the shift motor is not taking the front axle out of engagement when you take the transfer case out of 4 WD. The motor works off engine vacuum and the vacuum switch is on top left of the transfer case. I have found the rubber plug on the vacuum lines deteriorates over time and leaks vacuum, not allowing the axle to disengage.
Clean the area around the plug and pull off the plug and put a zip tie around it and snug it a little and plug it back on. Snug the tie more and maybe the leak will be fixed.
If that doesn't work the vacuum switch may need replacing.
