My dog is 3 years old, neutered and is potty trained. Except lately when he goes to my friends house, who usually dog sits him for me, he has started lifting his leg in their house. It is a neon yellow spray, and it is staining their home. How do I get him to stop lifting his leg in other peoples houses?

they need to follow through with your rules. Have them put the dog in a different area, the dog smells the pee and thinks its OK to go in their home, show them how to discipline him if he does it again

is your dog sitter taking him out regularly? figure out when this first started and try to determine if there had been any changes in his routine at that time. are you working longer hours? maybe your dog is sending a message to you that he misses you.

also, you may want to check with your vet for any urinary tract infections or something else that may be physically bothering him.

for the pee stains, try using Awesome (usually found at the dollar store) or another neutralizer found at the pet stores.

good luck

Does your friend have other dogs or cats? it sounds like the dog is marking his territory. Spray a vinegar and water solution in all the areas that he likes to spray.

Your dog shouldn't be left with other people in their homes if he has this problem. You train him not to, or you have someone come to your house to take care of him.
